Dead by Daylight's Mori Offerings May Be Changed Soon

As a seasoned survivor who has faced countless terrors in the foggy woods of Dead by Daylight, I must admit, I have mixed feelings about the returning Mori system in the 8.3.0 PTB. On one hand, the visual updates and added bloodpoints are enticing rewards that could spice up the endgame experience. The disappearance of environmental obstacles during a Mori indeed sounds like an exciting touch for creating more dramatic moments.

As a fervent admirer, I’m thrilled to share that my beloved Dead by Daylight’s iconic Mori system is making a comeback in the 8.3.0 PTB! This means killers can execute the Mori on the last survivor without needing an offering. It adds a striking visual touch and culminates the match in an immensely satisfying manner, as expressed by the developers in the latest patch notes.

At present, a Mori offering is required for a killer to eliminate a survivor personally. Depending on the rarity of the offering, the killer can either kill one specific survivor, the last remaining survivor, or all survivors on their second hook. If this system changes, Mori offerings as we know them would no longer be necessary, and instead, developers plan to introduce offerings that reward additional Bloodpoints for performing a Mori.

Beyond the functional alterations to how Moris operate, the mechanic will also receive some aesthetic enhancements that we refer to as visual improvements. These updates will cause nearby items such as rocks, crates, fallen logs, and other environmental elements to vanish during a Mori, ensuring a smoother experience by eliminating potential obstacles.

Developers claim they’ve “tone-down” the system to better match player preferences, but numerous players remain dissatisfied with the recent updates. The latest Mori system prevents players from eliminating all four opponents simultaneously, and doesn’t allow for a Mori at will. Nevertheless, some survivors contend that it brings more balance to the game.

Currently, the modifications to the Mori system remain in a preliminary stage and can be found on the 8.3.0 Public Test Build (PTB). Since developers often adjust or even discard features before they are implemented into the game, fan input will likely influence Behaviour’s future decisions.
