As a seasoned Dead by Daylight player with over 2000 hours under my belt, I must say that the return of the much-missed 2v8 mode has me absolutely thrilled! The prospect of trying out new killers like Blight, Spirit, and Deathslinger, exploring five fresh maps, and tinkering with the new classes is simply exhilarating.
Excitedly speaking as a fan, I can’t contain my enthusiasm! Behaviour Interactive has just revealed during their Haunted by Daylight 2024 livestream that the beloved 2v8 mode is returning in Dead by Daylight. The exciting event will run from 12 November to 16 November, offering us two weeks to dive into the action. The new version promises fresh maps and more killers, along with some adjustments to survivor gameplay to keep things interesting!
As a thrilled fan, I’m excited to share that the roster of terrifying killers has expanded with the addition of Blight, Spirit, and Deathslinger, joining the ranks of the original ones such as Wraith, Hillbilly, Trapper, Huntress, and Nurse. In this updated version, players will have the chance to either outrun these monsters or pursue survivors across five brand-new maps, including the chilling Yamaoka Estate and Grave of Glenvale. The remaining three maps are derived from existing Realms that are already part of the 2v8 mode. Much like their predecessors, these new maps will be tailored for the 2v8 mode and will offer a larger playing field to heighten the survival horror experience.
Contrary to initial belief, The Clown will NOT be in 2v8! It is The Blight.

In this new gameplay setup, the concept of ‘killer roles’ is introduced. Gamers will now have the liberty to select their preferred killer character and harness their exclusive abilities. However, they can also adopt additional roles such as ‘Shadow’, ‘Brute’, ‘Enforcer’, or ‘Fearmonger’. You’ll make your selection before every match, in a manner similar to how survivors pick their class in this game mode.
In the updated version, survivor classes will retain their existing features, but they’ll gain fresh abilities that provide advantages when survivors are trapped within traps. For instance, when a survivor is ensnared, the speed at which generators are repaired increases; however, once a generator is fully repaired, the repair speed decreases. It appears that in the new 2v8 mode, survivor abilities will operate similarly to perks. Additionally, survivors will receive an extra advantage through flashlight saves, a feature not available in the initial release.
Flashlight saves are officially in 2v8, after being taken out for the first iteration.

It’s intriguing to find out how these forthcoming alterations affect the 2v8 format. Players need to be patient for about a month before they can experiment with the new killers, maps, and gameplay adjustments. At this point in time, the mode isn’t set in stone – however, it appears developers intend to reintroduce it regularly.
