As a die-hard fan of Dead by Daylight, I must say the sudden drop of the Houndmaster chapter in today’s PTB has left me absolutely barking mad with excitement! This original DBD character not only brings a fresh twist to the game but also comes with an intriguing backstory.
Today, unexpectedly, Dead by Daylight unveiled a fresh PTB chapter, introducing a new character called the Houndmaster. This unique DBD figure brings along an engaging backstory and three tailored abilities with her. Here’s all you need to get familiarized with the Houndmaster, including her Mori, powers, and perks.
Dead by Daylight Houndmaster Mori
In the game, the scene known as the Houndmaster’s Domain stands out as one of the most gruesome yet. This area showcases not only the Houndmaster but also her loyal dogs. To get a glimpse of this grisly spectacle, simply scroll down to the Houndmaster’s Domain:
Dead by Daylight Houndmaster Power
As a devoted admirer, I’d express it like this: “The thrill of my Scent of Blood ability empowers me, enabling my trusty hound to sniff out and chase down survivors. Let me share with you the specifics of my lethal skill:
Killer Power – Scent of Blood
The Houndmaster and her dog operate as one. Her commands are followed without question or delay.
Special Ability: Chase
The Chase Command makes the dog dash off at top speed. Pressing the Power button a second time adjusts the chase, causing the dog to change direction in its path. When the dog captures a Survivor, it initiates a Grab. This causes the Survivor to be slowed down and pulled towards the Houndmaster. The Survivor can break free by stunning the dog or can be saved by another Survivor. If a Grab doesn’t result in injury, the Survivor remains hindered. Grabs last for a shorter time for Survivors with the Endurance status effect.
Special Ability: Search
The “Search Command” leads the dog towards a specific spot, establishing a “Search Route.” It plays a soothing tune and as it advances, its detection range expands according to how far it’s traveled. Anyone who enters this detection zone is influenced by its keen senses and becomes visible due to “Killer Instinct.” If the “Houndmaster” follows the dog’s path, she gradually increases her running speed. However, departing from the path ends the speed boost.
Special Effect: Houndsense
Healthy individuals impacted by Houndsense experience severe wounds upon injury. When injured survivors who have Houndsense are pushed towards death, they emit more intense groans of pain and bleed profusely for a longer duration.
Dead by Daylight Houndmaster Perks
Just as every killer possesses distinctive abilities, so does the Houndmaster. Here are the Houndmaster’s special traits:
All-Shaking Thunder
- After you fall from a height, your lunge attack distance is increased by 75/75/75% for 8/12/16 seconds.
- This perk has a 5/5/5-second cooldown.
Scourge Hook: Jagged Compass
- At the start of the trial, up to 4 random hooks are changed into scourge hooks. You see their auras in white.
- When a Survivor is unhooked from a non-scourge hook, it becomes a scourge hook. When you hook a Survivor on a Scourge Hook, the aura of the generator with the most progress is revealed in yellow for 6/8/10 seconds.
No Quarter
- When a Survivor reaches 75/75/75% of a self-heal, they are faced with continuous skill checks.
- If one of these skill checks is missed or the heal is interrupted, the Survivor becomes broken for 20/25/30 seconds.
