Musician and video content creator DDG recently voiced support for Twitch broadcaster Kai Cenat, countering accusations from some viewers that he is asking for too many subscriptions, instead explaining his approach to monetization on the platform.
In a live broadcast on March 3rd, DDG likened purchasing Twitch subscriptions to subscribing to streaming services such as Netflix, emphasizing that the platform provides distinct value to its fanbase.
During his live stream, he spotted a comment in the chat that criticized Kai Cenat’s wealth, suggesting it comes entirely from fan donations. The viewer made this assertion without much thought, but DDG immediately pointed out the fallacy in their argument.
He started off by saying, “That remark is utterly illogical,” after which he read it out loud: “‘Wealthy individual due to others providing funds.’ No one is asking anyone for money,” he commented.
Afterward, the broadcaster highlighted that viewers decide on their own whether to subscribe or contribute to the channels they prefer, thereby underscoring the interactive and engaging aspect of Twitch.

He clarified the distinctions between Twitch subscriptions and other monthly services: ‘Unlike with Netflix, you’re not getting any shoutouts despite your regular payments. You pay for various memberships each month without receiving any acknowledgement,’ he pointed out.
If you join Twitch, you’ll receive a shoutout, which shows affection towards you, and even an emblem as a reward. At least you’re getting something, right? It’s not the same as elsewhere, I mean, that’s exactly what Twitch is all about.
According to DDG, Twitch subscribers establish a unique, personal bond with their preferred streamers, an experience not found on other platforms.
He ended his reply by stating that Kai Cenat and other Twitch creators do not aggressively solicit donations. Rather, he presented subscriptions as a way for fans to express their gratitude.
