DC fans battle it out over divisive new Superman clip

Excitement and anticipation within the DC community is escalating as James Gunn’s version of Superman gets closer, and a fresh viral video from the forthcoming movie has only served to heighten the intensity.

On July 11, the latest Superman film is scheduled for release, marking only one highlight among many during an impressive month. Also on tap are Jurassic Park: The Rebirth and Fantastic Four.

However, the superhero film is garnering more interest than its counterparts. With numerous trailers and sneak peeks leading up to its release, fans are growing polarized as they weigh whether Gunn’s interpretation of the character will meet the high expectations established by Zack Snyder’s earlier portrayal.

Currently, there’s a video clip going around that shows an upset Superman. This has left some ardent DC fans wondering if they might want to watch this film given the intense portrayal of his character.

Superman sun clip divides fans over new movie

In the video under discussion (captured at CinemaCon), there’s a scene showing a weary Superman being tended by a team of robots. During the recovery phase, he is subjected to intense solar energy. Whether it was the sun’s rays or his body’s healing process causing the pain, he let out a cry of anguish.

In past instances, the sun has been instrumental in reviving Superman’s abilities. Given this pattern, it seems logical that the same holds true in this scenario as well.

Following the video’s launch (as well as a second one showing Superman grimacing upon a heartfelt encounter with his canine alter ego, Krypto), some viewers have speculated that director James Gunn may be misunderstanding Superman’s connection to the sun.

Furthermore, it’s evident that they aren’t pleased about witnessing their favorite superhero endure and exhibit intense agony.

One user commented that Snyder’s portrayal of Superman bravely withstanding a nuclear blast at close range and healing under the sun without any radiation pain, as depicted in the comics, contrasts sharply with Gunn’s more ordinary representation which is shown to scream in pain.

One person concurred, stating, “James Gunn indeed grasps it, they noted. He won’t turn it into a mindless comedy, they said. They believed he understood the brief. That was undeniably the most disappointing Superman clip I have ever witnessed. It’s nothing short of a farce and it revolves around Krypto.

Another simply wrote, “This can’t be real, right???”

On the contrary, some enthusiasts of DC continue to be open-minded about it, and are even stepping forward to vouch for the video.

One person put it this way, ‘After we fought Darkseid alongside the Justice League, what followed was the most incredible Superman footage you could imagine.’

Gunn excels at creating comic book movies more than anyone else, making us fortunate to have him working on a Superman film.
