Days After Launching In Early Access, This New Steam Game Is Shutting Down

Studio Chaf recently declared that they are closing their first release game, Velev, just a few days following its debut on Steam Early Access on the 9th of April.

The developers have shared that they regrettably couldn’t proceed with supporting and managing Velev as planned due to an inability to achieve the required milestones. Despite tirelessly pursuing investment from venture capitalists or larger partners, they were unsuccessful. With few alternatives left, they chose to debut Velev in Early Access mode, keeping their fingers crossed for a positive outcome.

Chalf explained that the studio recognized Velev wasn’t at its best when it initially released as a paid early access game on Steam. Despite this, it was the most feasible route for further development. Regrettably, Chaf is now leaving the project and bringing Velev to an end.

Velev is moving towards a free-to-play structure, where all prior purchases are fully reimbursed. It’s worth noting that the game servers will cease operation at some point in the future, though an exact date has not been announced as of now.

Player versus Player (PvP) Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (MOBA) combat, as well as Player versus Environment (PvE) gameplay. The player takes on the role of an explorer who accidentally discovers a void within our Earth and enters a brand new world where technology and nature live in balance together.

Although not identical, the premature release of The Day Before on Early Access led its developers, Fntastic, to close down the game just a few days after it was launched.

Steam has introduced a fresh alert for early access titles. In case a game hasn’t received updates for quite some time, its Steam page will now indicate this fact. Consequently, prospective buyers are given a transparent heads-up that the game they’re considering buying hasn’t been updated or supported recently.
