David Simon Signs With Gersh, Sets Deals at HBO & Sony TV (EXCLUSIVE)

David Simon has signed with Gersh for representation, EbMaster has learned exclusively.

Simon recently secured a new contract, which includes a two-year first-option agreement with HBO and an exclusive script deal with Sony Pictures Television. The specifics of the financial aspects in both contracts remain undisclosed.

The HBO arrangement continues to keep Simon thriving in partnership with the premium cable channel, which has essentially been his TV base for nearly three decades. During this period, Simon has provided the network with critically praised dramas such as “The Corner,” “The Wire,” “Generation Kill,” “Treme,” “The Deuce,” “The Plot Against America,” “Show Me a Hero,” and most recently, “We Own This City.”

This experience formed the foundation for his book titled “Homicide: A Year on the Killing Streets.” Subsequently, this book was the inspiration behind the successful NBC series “Homicide: Life on the Street,” where Simon contributed as both a writer and producer. Over its seven-season run and 122 episodes, the show won four Emmy Awards.

Simon authored the book titled “The Corner: A Year in the Life of an Urban Community,” which later became the HBO television series “The Corner.” This TV show earned three Emmy Awards, among them being the categories of exceptional miniseries and excellent writing for a miniseries.
