The “Friends” theme song has not exactly been there for David Schwimmer over the years.
On their latest podcast, the celebrity shared that listening to the theme tune, which is by The Rembrandts and was first released as a single back in 1995, throughout all 10 seasons of the popular series and beyond has been quite sufficient for them.
He admitted honestly, for a considerable period, simply listening to the tune’s opening notes used to evoke an unexplainable response within him. He struggled to put it into words, but the truth was, he had grown accustomed to hearing it frequently.
Even after “Friends” ended in 2004, the theme would still follow Schwimmer around.
Whenever you’d appear on a TV program, a talk show, or an interview, that tune would introduce you, but I wasn’t particularly fond of it.” (He said this.)
Schwimmer also admitted that he didn’t watch “Friends” after leaving the show.
He expressed that for him, it’s as if he has accomplished it and is ready to advance. He doesn’t typically dwell on the past by returning to it. However, he began re-watching the series after his daughter Cleo found it when she was about 9 years old or so.
He commented: “While I was busy preparing breakfast, I would often hear my child’s joyful laughter. That song and the show took on a completely new meaning for me.
Schwimmer most recently appeared as a regular in the second season of “Goosebumps.”
