David Lynch Can’t Direct in Person Anymore Due to Emphysema

David Lynch’s latest project, “Twin Peaks: The Return,” may not be coming out soon due to his health issues. In an interview with Sight & Sound, he revealed that he has emphysema from years of smoking and is now homebound. He can only walk a short distance before running out of breath. If he were to direct another project, it would have to be done remotely, but he prefers working in person for inspiration. Lynch has since given up smoking after realizing its harmful effects. “Smoking was something I deeply enjoyed, but in the end, it caused me harm,” he admitted. “It was part of the artistic lifestyle for me: the tobacco and the aroma, and lighting up and smoking and thinking about things; there’s nothing quite as lovely in this world.” So, please don’t smoke cigarettes. It’s harmful to your health.
