When NBC announced a new version of The Rockford Files, it immediately became a highly anticipated TV pilot. Only two actors were considered for the main role, but Nathan Fillion ultimately landed the part.
According to Deadline, Nathan Fillion will be the star of NBC’s new version of The Rockford Files. Fillion is a well-known TV actor, having appeared in shows like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Bones, and SEAL Team. This updated take on the classic detective series is being written by Mike Daniels and produced by Sarah Timberman and Carl Beverly, with Universal Television overseeing the project.
The updated series features James Rockford, portrayed by Boreanaz, recently released from prison after being wrongly convicted. He’s back to working as a private investigator in Los Angeles, relying on his intelligence and personality to crack cases. Though he appears tough and reserved, Rockford has a strong sense of right and wrong. His efforts to rebuild his life quickly put him in the middle of trouble with both the police and criminal organizations.
