Red Hook Studios’ highly anticipated expansion for Darkest Dungeon II, titled “Inhuman Bondage,” is set to release on January 27, 2025, for PC platforms. This paid DLC introduces a new mini-region called The Catacombs and a fresh playable hero known as The Abomination. Interestingly, The Abomination was initially designed through crowd-funding support during the development of the original game. Additionally, it will feature the Kingdoms game mode with the first of three adventure modules.

In the upcoming release, players can enjoy the “Kingdoms” game mode, which is currently available for all at no cost. This initial launch also includes the first of three adventure packs: “Hungers of the Beast Clan.” The revamped gameplay structure in this mode mirrors that of the “Confessions” mode, offering a similar experience. After the PC version’s release, both the “Kingdoms” mode and the “Inhuman Bondage” DLC will become accessible on consoles.

Red Hook Studios, creators of Darkest Dungeon, are thrilled to share that on January 27, 2025, they will be launching Kingdoms, a new free game mode, along with the first adventure module for Kingdoms titled Hunger of the Beast Clan. Additionally, the next DLC for Darkest Dungeon II, Inhuman Bondage, will also become available at the same time. This exciting release will be happening on PC.

As a thrilled fan, I’m excited to share that I’ll soon be immersed in a fresh gaming experience within Darkest Dungeon II, titled “Kingdoms.” This innovative game mode is a generous free update, offering three themed adventure modules, starting with the “Hunger of the Beast Clan.

At Red Hook, we prefer to challenge traditional norms. When contemplating how to enhance Darkest Dungeon II effectively, we found the common advice of adding more content uninspiring. Instead, we chose to revolutionize the very framework of DDII, which led us to create an entirely new game mode: Kingdoms.

In the expansion pack titled “Inhuman Bondage,” players will discover a fresh mini-region called “The Catacombs” within the game “Darkest Dungeon II.” This DLC also introduces a beloved character, one who was part of the original design team backed by Kickstarter: “The Abomination.” Venturing into The Catacombs means descending beneath the kingdom to confront a noxious, dripping danger. This region offers both high stakes and significant rewards, with new foes, loot, and challenges that will enrich ‘Confessions’ and ‘Kingdoms.’ The Abomination stands out with its exclusive abilities, charms, equipment sets, weapon kits, and a fully voiced backstory, complete with playable flashback battles.

Darkest Dungeon II is now playable on computers, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch. The ‘Kingdoms’ mode and the ‘Inhuman Bondage’ DLC are set to launch on PC on January 27th, 2025, with console versions following suit at a later date.
