Dark Souls narrator and iconic actor Pik-Sen Lim has died aged 80

80-year-old Malaysian-born British actress Pik-Sen Lim sadly passed away on June 9th. She gained fame in British television dramas such as Mind Your Language and Doctor Who, but gaming enthusiasts may remember her from the Dark Souls series, specifically Dark Souls and Dark Souls 3.

In a well-known move, Pik-Sen Lim provided the voiceover for the introductory scenes in both the original Dark Souls and Dark Souls 3. Her distinctive voice contributed significantly to the dramatic ambiance of these games. By doing so, Lim played a crucial role in shaping the global experience of players, helping establish the tough, challenging journey that was yet to come.

Back in the swinging ’60s, I packed my bags and moved from sunny Malaysia to bustling Britain. Born in 1944, I was destined for greatness, little did I know then! Fast forward to the late ’70s, I found myself gracing screens both here at home in Malaysia and across the pond in the UK. My roles in Mind Your Language (1977) and Doctor Who (1971) catapulted me into international fame, making me a familiar face on television sets worldwide!

In 2011, I had the pleasure of sharing the screen with the legendary Rowan Atkinson in Johnny English Reborn. My character, the Killer Cleaner, was a memorable one for me in that film. Additionally, you might recognize me from several popular sitcoms such as The Bill, Casualty, Holby City, and Coronation Street.

Actor Daniel Y Loh expressed a touching tribute on Facebook, highlighting his good fortune for having collaborated with her.

The actor penned: “She was a jovial soul, radiating love, laughter, and playfulness. Being near her was a delight, and her exceptional comedic talent made any audience feel secure. Her one-of-a-kind voice and infectious energy guided us all.

On occasion, I had the good fortune to guide her during play rehearsals, and each time, I uncovered new dimensions of her exceptional acting abilities.
