Two dedicated fans (and sisters) of Dark Souls 3, have elevated cosplaying to an extraordinary level, crafting a remarkably lifelike duo of the game’s Mimic and Fire Keeper characters. The Mimic is a familiar foe in the Souls franchise, disguising itself as a treasure chest before springing into action when players get too close for comfort. On the other hand, the Fire Keeper serves as a player’s guide, offering stat enhancements and intriguing tidbits of lore and narrative that even tie back to Demon’s Souls.
In a Reddit post by uyumilky, a user and her twin sister have put together an outstanding Fire Keeper and Mimic duo cosplay. The Fire Keeper costume closely mirrors her look from Dark Souls 3, while the Mimic character in this case exhibits dance routines along with a striking resemblance to the nerve-wracking enemy from the game.
The Most Realistic Dark Souls Cosplay?
They Feel Ripped Straight From The Game
Collaboratively speaking, these two cosplay artists could be sporting some of the most authentic Dark Souls 3 costumes yet, an achievement considering Dark Souls 3 is nearing its tenth anniversary. The Fire Keeper costume faithfully replicates the character’s signature black robes and eye-covering crown-like adornments, which in the game are meant to conceal empty eye sockets that can be filled through a crucial quest decision in Dark Souls 3. Additionally, her skin has an ashy tone, and her golden hair aligns remarkably well with the Fire Keeper’s original appearance.
The Mimic cosplay is equally astonishing, considering how challenging it is to execute. User uyumilky pointed out that the Mimic’s chest seamlessly blends with her head, and the long tongue is crafted from fabric, covered with multiple layers of tree glue and paint. Subsequently, additional layers were added with the glue on top to create a more realistic flesh-like texture. The Mimic has gained popularity as a cosplay choice, despite its intricacy and occasional discomfort.
Dark Souls Cosplay Proves The Series Is Alive
Even Nine Years Later
Since FromSoftware released the Souls trilogy, they’ve developed other games such as Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and Elden Ring. However, it’s been quite some time since a new entry in the series has come out, specifically since 2016. There have been whispers about a Dark Souls 3 remaster, but so far, nothing concrete has emerged. Despite this, the series remains incredibly popular, and fans continue to show their love for it, as evidenced by fantastic cosplays like this one, even nine years later.
Following the somewhat contentious approach of Elden Ring Nightreign, the next title from FromSoftware is a fresh intellectual property called The Duskbloods, which continues their emphasis on multiplayer gaming and will only be available for the Switch 2. Despite this focus on multiplayer, creator Hidetaka Miyazaki has emphasized that FromSoftware remains committed to developing single-player games as well. This suggests a potential remaster of Dark Souls 3 or a brand new Souls game may be in development. In any case, we can look forward to more amazing cosplay creations in the future.
