As a seasoned gamer with a soft spot for Metroidvanias and a particular fondness for Japanese indie games, I can hardly contain my excitement about Ender Magnolia: Bloom in the Mist. Having had the pleasure of diving into the Early Access version, I’ve been left yearning for more – and thankfully, it won’t be much longer until we get our hands on the full game!
On the evening of September 9-10, the Japanese video game company Binary Haze Interactive unveiled a fresh trailer for Ender Magnolia: Bloom in the Mist on YouTube. The trailer highlights various new settings, characters, and adversaries, but what stands out most is the announcement of the full version’s release date. This highly anticipated dark Metroidvania will hit PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Switch platforms on January 23, 2025.

Title “Ender Magnolia: Bloom” in the Mists is now accessible through Steam Early Access, having been launched on March 25, 2024. The creators, Live Wire Studio from Japan, initially indicated that early access would conclude in 2024; however, it appears they require a bit more time to polish the game. Given the minor postponement, it’s hard not to understand their necessity for extra development time, considering that the title’s creation will span approximately ten months (minus two days), which is still considered a relatively brief period in game development.
Conversely, the developer’s history looks promising as their latest game, “Ender Lilies: Quietus of the Knights,” was only in Steam Early Access for a short span of 5 months (from January 21, 2021 to June 21, 2021). Regrettably, Ender Magnolia didn’t see any new content added during its development process, only a minor patch to fix minor issues. The game has offered around 3-5 hours of entertainment upon release, but leaves players feeling somewhat unsatisfied. Fortunately, the complete version is expected to be lengthier – the developers have announced that it will take approximately 35 hours to complete. (For reference: on average, it takes about 21 hours to uncover all the secrets in Ender Lilies).
Despite the “edits,” the title’s popularity soared, with a whopping 97% of nearly 3900 reviews on Steam singing its praises. This positive feedback is even more impressive when compared to the first installment, boasting an impressive 94% from close to 34,000 opinions. The developers at X are genuinely appreciative of every industry website that shares their thoughts after playing the early access version of Ender Magnolia: Bloom in the Mist, expressing gratitude for each article penned.
It appears quite probable that we’ll get an exceptional game to play in January 2025, serving as a reprieve for those anticipating Hollow Knight: Silksong. In the meantime, we’re left to patiently count down to its debut and learn about the console versions’ prices when they’re unveiled. On Steam, Ender Magnolia currently retails for $19.99 without any discounts yet applied. A potential price hike is not out of the question, likely adjusting post-release of version 1.0.
