Daredevil’s Major Issue Keeping Him from Joining the Avengers

In the upcoming series “Daredevil: Born Again,” the fearless hero known as Daredevil will make his comeback in the Marvel Cinematic Universe; however, fans who anticipate seeing him join the ranks of the Avengers may encounter a challenge.

After wrapping up his Netflix series in 2018, Charlie Cox has sporadically yet significantly appeared within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He made a cameo in Spider-Man: No Way Home, where he caught a brick that had been hurled through Peter Parker’s window.

Additionally, he had confrontations with She-Hulk during her Disney Plus series, followed by an impressive climactic battle against Echo which is scheduled for 2024.

He engaged in conflicts with She-Hulk on her Disney Plus show, and is slated for a spectacular fight against Echo in the year 2024.

Yet, he has not been seen associating with the Avengers on-screen, and the comics provide reasons for this absence.

Is Daredevil an Avenger?

In the comic book world, while Daredevil doesn’t hold the title of an official Avenger, he has been known to join forces with them, including the New Avengers and the Marvel Knights.

Most people agree that Netflix series play a significant role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, so it’s generally understood that Matt Murdock primarily associates with The Defenders – a team of street-level superheroes consisting of Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Iron Fist.

In the world of comics, Daredevil is often depicted as operating independently rather than being affiliated with a specific team. However, this doesn’t make him a bad guy – instead, he tends to work alone but occasionally joins forces with characters like The Punisher and Spider-Man when necessary.

Moreover, according to Luke Cage in The New Avengers Volume 2 Issue #16, it’s not necessarily that Daredevil is unfit for Avengers membership; instead, the team might not measure up to his worthiness.

I’ve got a pretty good handle on Daredevil, as much as he allows anyone to. Make no mistake, by the end of the day, he’s undeniably one of the greatest heroes out there. I won’t delve into his past or how he became who he is. There are many who believe they know everything about Daredevil and all his hidden truths, but…” he remarks.

To be honest, my own encounters with the data available have left me feeling less than impressed. Yet, instead of dwelling on negativity, let’s focus on the essence of Daredevil: a man who has given up everything in his pursuit of making our city a safer place.

He has endured more hardship and sacrifice than most individuals I’ve encountered in my life, all for you. And I’ve met people who’ve faced adversity and loss. He might not be the most robust or the most flamboyant among us, but Daredevil is indomitable – he simply cannot be defeated.”

This version retains the original’s emphasis on the character’s unyielding spirit while using more formal and easily understood language to convey that message.

His motivation comes from depths beyond what most people you encounter have experienced. Let me emphasize, in this profession, we’re all driven by our inner demons. Yet, even among us, he stands out for his relentless determination and devotion.

As a dedicated gamer, I often get asked: “Could Daredevil fit in with the Avengers?” To put it bluntly, I’d say the real question should be flipped around: “Are the Avengers up to par with Daredevil’s grit and determination?” After all, isn’t that what makes a true hero?

Why Daredevil struggles to be an Avenger

In simpler terms, it’s challenging for Daredevil to keep up with the Avengers because their battles often involve too much activity for his heightened senses to process effectively.

In Daredevil Issue #6 from Mark Waid’s 2014 series, Matt Murdock narrates his involvement in a major brawl involving a villain known as the Orb and roughly half of the superhero community.

I’m not great with situations that are overwhelming or chaotic. It’s as if trying to follow an intense battle between characters like the Hulk and the Thing is similar to getting swept up in a powerful storm for me.

Given that Daredevil relies heavily on his other senses due to his blindness, it significantly increases his vulnerability – leading him to perceive injuries even when he’s perfectly healthy.

I suddenly heard a loud blast. It seemed as if sharp shards of glass had violently penetrated my skull, yet miraculously, I found myself unscathed.

Charlie Cox wants to join the Avengers

Despite current circumstances, Charlie Cox remains optimistic that Daredevil could eventually become a major player in the Marvel universe, given the upcoming projects like Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars.

In conversation with the leading character from a comic book, they were queried about their preference between reuniting with the Defenders or collaborating with the Avengers.

Over the span of these years, I’ve developed a strong fondness for this character. One aspect that particularly stands out to me is the existence of some truly exciting team-ups, and Daredevil often takes on an intriguing, key position in many Avengers comic book stories.

I believe it’d make the character truly shine and pay tribute to all the rich history associated with it.

It’s been whispered that characters like Daredevil and Kingpin could show up in the upcoming Spider-Man 4 movie, set to release somewhere between Doomsday and Secret Wars. We’ll just have to wait and see if this speculation comes true!
