Daredevil's Charlie Cox 'Shocked' Disney Brought He And Vincent D'Onofrio Back

As a long-time fan who followed the Daredevil series from its inception on Netflix, I must say that this latest development has left me utterly astounded and overjoyed! The journey of Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk, portrayed brilliantly by Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio respectively, was a rollercoaster ride that I never wanted to end.

At D23, one standout moment from Marvel Studios’ exhibition was the debut trailer for Daredevil: Reborn, the forthcoming chapter in the popular Daredevil saga which originally aired on Netflix for three seasons until 2018. Unlike his co-star Vincent D’onofrio, series lead Charlie Cox initially wasn’t convinced that Marvel would invite them back for another series.

People Magazine reported that Charlie Cox indicated he felt the prospect of a Daredevil revival dwindled following a conversation with Marvel’s Kevin Feige in 2020, as it seemed his brief appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home was a standalone event. On the other hand, Vincent D’Onofrio maintained optimism about reprising his character, Wilson Fisk/Kingpin, alongside Cox in a future project.

In simpler terms, Cox recounted that Vincent would occasionally talk with him, saying things like, “They’re going to reach out. I believe they’ll choose us, but they’ll contact us first,” as if it were still in the works. After hanging up, Cox would think, “He’s clearly not in his right mind! He needs to let go. It’s been a decade since it ended and he’s still clinging to it. It’s done. It’s definitely over.”

D’Onofrio interjected into the interview and added, “It became really pathetic in Charlie’s eyes.”

In the year 2022, Marvel formally revealed plans for Daredevil’s comeback titled “Born Again.” Following some changes in creative direction, original actors Elden Henson, Deborah Ann Woll, and Wilson Bethel were asked to rejoin the project.

In response, Cox stated, “You were correct.” I hadn’t anticipated it. Frankly, it took me aback. It was an outstanding performance, and it seemed quite absurd, in the context of love.

In March 2025, the new installment of Daredevil: Born Again will make its debut on Disney+. Already, a subsequent season of this comeback has received approval.
