The upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe will feature a massive, reality-bending war across multiple universes. While we’re already preparing for big changes in Phases Six and Seven, especially with the release of Avengers: Doomsday in December 2026, a key question remains: will the characters from the Daredevil: Born Again series play a role in this epic conflict?
With Season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again arriving on Disney+ in late March, the two actors have very different opinions on the matter.
Will Daredevil: Born Again’s Cast Be Included in Avengers: Doomsday?
However, Cox believes Daredevil should continue focusing on gritty, street-level crime fighting, as that’s what originally made the character popular.
He said that getting things right can be really exciting. However, he worried about losing what makes their show compelling. A big part of the show’s success, he explained, is that the characters feel real. Introducing concepts like invincibility, immortality, or alternate universes, he believes, could diminish the sense of risk and make the story less engaging.
Expect plenty of unexpected characters to show up in both Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. This is in addition to the already announced return of the original X-Men and many other heroes who will be involved in these universe-spanning adventures.
The Multiverse Might Be Inevitable for Daredevil
As a huge fan, I’m really hoping to see Daredevil and Kingpin get involved in the bigger MCU storylines now that Daredevil: Born Again is officially connected. I can totally imagine Charlie Cox going along with Vincent D’Onofrio’s enthusiasm if Marvel decides to throw them into the mix, maybe even pitting them against Robert Downey Jr.’s new Doom! It would be amazing to see them alongside all the other heroes.
Consider this: if even Spider-Man, with all the complexities of studio ownership and rights, could team up with Doctor Strange and Iron Man to save New York from Thanos, then Daredevil could realistically find himself in a similar situation, grappling with a tough moral choice.
After a threat nearly destroyed New York City – again, one comparable to the Avengers’ biggest challenges – would Daredevil really choose to focus on street-level criminals like Kingpin and Bullseye, even if it feels pointless in the grand scheme of things, and abandon any chance at a more meaningful role?
No, that’s not the issue. As Cox pointed out, the key is to simply tell the story well – with careful planning and the right approach.
