A bearded Charlie Cox says he has begun filming Daredevil: Born Again Season 3
I was on the streets of New York this week and spotted the start of filming for Daredevil: Born Again Season 3! It’s a pretty incredible pace from Marvel – they’re already shooting the next season well before Season 2 even hits Disney+ on March 24th. It really feels like they’re staying ahead of the game, getting a jump on production before we’ve even had a chance to see how Season 2 lands with audiences.
Charlie Cox announced that he wrapped filming for Season 3 of his show during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!. He even showed up with a beard he’d grown for the role, explaining he’d been filming an action scene until 7 PM the night before and had received several cuts during the sequence.
Ever since actors Brian Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio started avoiding questions about their beards during interviews, fans have been wondering about it. Now that Cox has revealed he was filming Season 3 with a beard, people are trying to figure out how this might affect Matt Murdock’s look in the show.
The comics suggest what might happen next. In a popular Daredevil storyline by Chip Zdarsky, Matt Murdock grew a beard, got a new costume, and teamed up with Elektra to fight The Hand. With The Hand appearing in the trailer for the new Spider-Man series, fans believe the upcoming third season of Daredevil: Born Again could adapt this story arc.
It’s possible both Daredevil and Wilson Fisk will be imprisoned. Many viewers think the upcoming third season of Daredevil: Born Again will focus on a storyline where both characters are incarcerated, which would explain why the actors playing them have been growing beards – potentially to reflect time spent in prison.
With filming just beginning, a Season 3 release date likely remains far off.
