Daredevil: Born Again showrunner says Season 3 direction is clear in “final five minutes” of Season 2

According to showrunner Dario Scardapane, the direction of Daredevil: Born Again’s third season will be revealed in the last five minutes of Season 2.

The series follows Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) as he fights back against Mayor Kingpin (Vincent D’Onofrio), who is exploiting his power to control the city and expand his criminal activities.

He imprisons anyone who opposes him, forcing Daredevil and Karen Page to go into hiding and work secretly to avoid being captured by the task force created to stop vigilantes.

Filming for Daredevil: Born Again Season 3 is underway, and there’s buzz that the villainous group, the Hand – previously featured in the Netflix Daredevil series – will reappear. This has fans curious about what challenges await Matt Murdock in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Showrunner and producer say fans will know “exactly” where they’re going at the end of Daredevil: Born Again Season 2

While promoting Season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again, TopMob questioned executive producer Sana Amanat and showrunner Dario Scardapane about speculation surrounding The Hand. They wanted to know if Matt Murdock might become the leader of the mysterious ninja organization in a potential Season 3.

“You’ll understand everything we’re planning after you finish Season 2,” Amanat explained. Scardapane was even more direct, stating, “The last five minutes of Season 2 will make it completely clear where the story is headed.”

I remember being so excited for the Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer, but then people started noticing something weird! Just days before it dropped, we saw those red-suited ninjas – clearly The Hand – and it got everyone wondering if they’d also taken Daredevil out of the new footage. It was a really confusing time for fans!

Daredevil has occasionally led ninja groups in the comics. A notable example is the 2010 ‘Shadowland’ storyline, where he initially planned to use the Hand – a ninja organization – to protect his neighborhood, Hell’s Kitchen. However, he was corrupted by a powerful, supernatural force that the Hand revered.

In a 2022 Daredevil comic storyline, he also led a ninja group called the Fist alongside Elektra, his romantic partner. Considering the upcoming season of the show will likely explore a grimmer direction for the hero as he battles Kingpin, it’s plausible he’ll turn to the Hand for assistance. This could ultimately lead to an even greater danger, setting the stage for future events similar to the ‘Brand New Day’ storyline.
