The initial two installments of “Marvel’s ‘Daredevil: Born Again'” have been revealed to the media, and the early responses for this Disney+ show are overwhelmingly positive.
Liam Crowley from Screen Rant’s on-camera review stated that “Daredevil: Born Again” boasts the finest pilot episode among all Marvel Cinematic Universe series to date, and it’s not even close. The show delivers nail-biting tension with audible gasps throughout. Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio continue to impress in their roles, while Benson & Moorhead add a unique flavor to the production. Above all else, it’s the episodic structure that truly sets this series apart – we may very well return for more.
Sean O’Connell, editor-in-charge at Cinema Blend, concurred. In his words, “Wow, Daredevil: Born Again starts off with an extended, intense scene that clearly declares, ‘This is as gritty as Netflix.’ Following this, the first two episodes establish a multi-layered narrative involving police, vigilantes, and remorse. If you need a recap, catch up on DEVIL’S REIGN – it’s off to a fantastic beginning!
Erik Davis, director at Fandango, shared similar thoughts as Crowley and O’Connell. He stated that the initial two episodes are “exceptionally strong beginnings for a Marvel Studios TV show [according to my viewpoint] – the first two episodes are fantastic, establishing a narrative that combines elements of a courtroom drama with intense combat scenes. The opening fight in Episode 1 is a single, continuous shot and ends dramatically, making quite an impression and launching the series effectively.
Charlie Cox once again takes on the character of Matt Murdock, a lawyer turned crime fighter who is blind, a role he first played on Netflix in 2015. However, this isn’t his first time appearing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). He previously portrayed Murdock in the Disney+ series ‘She-Hulk: Attorney at Law,’ ‘Echo,’ and ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home,’ which was released in 2021.
In addition to Cox, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Ayelet Zurer, Wilson Bethel, Vincent D’Onofrio, and Jon Bernthal are set to reprise their roles in the revival. Joining them are Michael Gandolfini, Margarita Levieva, and Jeremy Earl.
In the TV series “Born Again,” Matt Murdock, a lawyer who is blind but possesses extraordinary skills, works tirelessly for justice at his busy law firm. Meanwhile, Wilson Fisk, once a crime boss, has shifted to pursuing political ambitions in New York City. As their hidden pasts start coming to light, these two men are drawn towards a confrontation that seems inevitable.
“Daredevil: Born Again” premieres on Disney+ March 4.
