Dandelooo Cinema has secured advance sales for its forthcoming animated film “Born in the Jungle” in various important regions, even before the unveiling of the trailer at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival.
The upcoming 70-minute film is gaining attention from various European markets. It has been acquired by distributors such as Little KMBO in France, Luftkind Filmverleih in Germany, Modiband/Rita & Luca Films in Spain, and Folkets Bio in Sweden.
The story ‘Born in the Jungle’ originates from the book written by Latvian author Luīze Pastore, and is based on the true-life experiences of adventurer Aleksander Laime and his family.
The movie can be characterized as a “heartwarming tale that follows the journey of a family learning to grow and unite, demonstrating compassion, understanding, acceptance, and mutual accountability towards each other and their environment.
During the summer of the late 1950s in Venezuela, nine-year-old Elizabeth’s tranquil vacation takes an unexpected twist as her younger brother Leo goes missing in the jungle. To find Leo and ensure his safety, she swaps her books for courage on a daring adventure. Moreover, this journey becomes even more crucial when she discovers that a magical, furry creature is being held captive and must be rescued from its plight and returned to its natural habitat in the Tepui mountains.
As a movie enthusiast, I’m particularly drawn to films directed by Edmunds Jansons. This director has an impressive portfolio, ranging from children’s movies like “Jacob, Mimmi and the Talking Dogs” and “Pigtail and Mr Sleeplessness,” to more mature themes in shorts such as “Freeride in C,” “Guard of Honor,” and “Choir Tour.
The movie was jointly produced by Atom Art (Jansons) from Latvia, Letko from Poland, and Hausboot from the Czech Republic.
In 2017, Dandelooo garnered an International Emmy Award and was recognized as Producer of the Year at Cartoon Forum. Additionally, it won the Procirep Best Producer award in 2024. That same year, Dandelooo ventured into feature films by launching Dandelooo Cinéma.
Dandelooo Cinema made its debut as an international sales representative with their first feature film, “Hola Frida,” directed by André Kadi and Karine Vézina, produced by Tobo Media and Haut et Court. This movie was sold to a total of 20 countries. The film had its premiere at the Morelia Film Festival in Mexico and went on to win audience awards at both the Anima and Stockholm Film Festivals.
Forthcoming attractions encompass “Born in the Jungle”, “Granny Is a Tree”, a first film from Hugo de Faucompret, and a full-length adaptation of “The Upside-Down River” by Paul Leluc, an original creation from Dandelooo’s studio.
