International animation powerhouse Dandelooo Cinéma has secured distribution rights for the 2D animated film “My Life in Versailles – The Movie,” everywhere except France, Italy, Germany, and the United Kingdom. This agreement was made with French production company Films Grand Huit and award-nominated animation studio Xilam Animation.
Intended for kids between 6 to 10 years old, this new movie is being made right now and is set to hit French theaters in October 2025, courtesy of distributor Jour 2 Fête. The film is being helmed by directors Clémence Madeleine-Perdrillat and Nathaniel H’limi, and it’s a joint venture between Films Grand Huit and Mélusine Productions. Xilam Animation and Miyu Productions are also lending their support to co-produce the film.
The tale primarily focuses on eight-year-old Violet, who, following the tragic passing of her parents, resides with her rough-around-the-edges uncle Regis, a caretaker at the Palace of Versailles. As they journey through life, they forge a connection against the picturesque setting of Versailles’ rich history. The movie offers a mix of laughter, affection, and historical allure to captivate both young viewers and entire families.

In this story, we follow the life of eight-year-old Violet, who has recently lost her parents and now lives with her gruff uncle Regis, a maintenance man at the Palace of Versailles. Together, they learn to cope and grow closer in the beautiful historical setting of Versailles. The film is filled with humor, warmth, and historical flair, making it appealing for both children and families alike.
Lionel Massol, producer at Films Grand Huit, expressed his feelings about the acquisition, stating, “For several months now, Clémence, Nathaniel, and I have been deeply involved in creating a feature-length adaptation of ‘La Vie de Château.’ We’ve been sharing the same emotions as a theatre audience would. Our goal is to let the story of Violette and Régis be fully enjoyed – as a family, on the big screen. I am beyond excited that Dandelooo, known for its high-quality and meticulously selected projects, has decided to join us on this grand and beautiful adventure! They will make excellent representatives for our tale!
Luna Sirvin, who works as the international sales and acquisitions manager at Dandelooo Cinema, expressed her excitement. “We’re delighted that Films Grand Huit selected Dandelooo to represent them as the International sales agent for ‘My Life in Versailles – The Movie,’ a heartwarming and significant film we’ve admired since its early development stages.
