As a seasoned fan of “Dancing With the Stars,” I must admit that this week’s episode was a nostalgic journey down memory lane. The 500th episode was a fitting tribute to the show’s rich history, with familiar faces gracing the ballroom once more.

On November 12th, “Dancing With the Stars” reached a significant achievement as it unveiled the contestants advancing to the semifinals for Season 33. The 500th episode kicked off with professional dancers, including fan favorite Sharna Burgess, performing a nostalgic opening number, “Crazy in Love,” reminiscent of the series’ debut in 2005. Several former competitors graced the ballroom once more, such as Adam Rippon, Ginger Zee, Kaitlyn Bristowe, Alyson Hannigan, AJ McLean and Simone Biles.

This week, I had the pleasure of seeing each of the six remaining teams showcase their tributes to beloved routines from our past performances. It was a nostalgic and exciting experience!

Last week concluded with a three-way tie at the top of the leaderboard: Joey Graziadei, Jenna Johnson, Chandler Kinney, and Brandon Armstrong each finished with 32 points.

As a movie enthusiast, I’d put it this way:

Simultaneously, Chandler Kinney and professional partner Brandon Armstrong honored Derek and Kellie Pickler’s Season 16 Argentine Tango performance with a rendition of their own. Derek was so impressed he declared their dance as his preferred one over his original, and the judges concurred, awarding the pair the inaugural perfect score of 30 for the season.

Dwight Howard and Daniella Karagach, who paid tribute to James Hinchcliffe and Sharna Burgess’ Season 23 Argentine Tango performance, failed to satisfy Carrie Ann Inaba, who awarded them an 8 and stated she missed the ‘Dwight’ from earlier in the season. (In this paraphrase, I have attempted to make it more conversational while maintaining the original meaning.)

During Halloween week, Ilona Maher and Alan Bersten found themselves at the bottom of the standings, but they managed to stage an impressive recovery. Their Quickstep was reminiscent of Jordan Fisher and Lindsay Arnold’s routine during Season 25, which earned them a perfect score of 10 from Carrie Ann.

Following their individual performances, the duos faced an extraordinary test: mastering a unique dance style along with a song in just five minutes prior to a live performance. Each pair managed to captivate the judges, but only Chandler and Brandon achieved a flawless 30 points for the challenge.

Ultimately, after audience votes were added in, Dwight and Daniella were eliminated.
