As a lifelong cinephile who’s seen more dance competitions than I can count, I must say that Season 33 of “Dancing With The Stars” is shaping up to be an intriguing mix of personalities and backstories. The casting team has done a remarkable job in gathering such a diverse group, from NFL stars to reality TV vets, and even a con artist turned Netflix sensation!
Intrigue unfolds as four athletic contenders, a former convict, and several well-known figures from the realm of reality TV make their way onto the dance floor. Tune in to unravel the story on “Dancing With the Stars” during its 33rd season!
On “Good Morning America” this past Wednesday, they revealed the celebrity-professional dancer couples who will be competing during the upcoming season
Prior to the unveiling of the cast for the upcoming season, GLAAD disclosed that Ezra Sosa, a previous troupe member, has been elevated to a professional dancer for Season 33 – marking the return of a Latin dance professional after several years. He made his debut on the show in 2021 and since then, both his personal and professional life have undergone significant transformation
Initially, when I started on the program, I experienced a strong feeling of self-doubt, or imposter syndrome, as I hadn’t yet come out… But this year, I discovered the strength, the power, of being authentic and true to myself. He explained, “Being ‘fruity,’ being myself, was something that transformed me significantly.” When I first joined the show, it was the first place where I truly felt accepted, which played a crucial role in my personal growth
He also said that JoJo Siwa gave him the courage to come out after they met when she competed.
This year, he’ll team up with Anna Delvey, one of the more contentious celebrities within the group. She is most recognized for serving time in prison due to fraud charges – a tale that gained notoriety in 2022, brought to the small screen by Netflix through their miniseries titled “Inventing Anna.”
The pairs will be judged by the returning panel of ballroom experts, Carrie Ann Inaba, Bruno Tonioli and Derek Hough. Julianne Hough and Alfonso Ribeiro return as hosts.
