2025 saw an expansion in the list of shows that got cancelled this week, as CBS executives took crucial steps regarding several series on the brink. Besides the cancellations of dramas like FBI: International and FBI: Most Wanted, among others, the network altered its Monday night lineup by cancelling the family sitcom Poppa’s House.
In simpler terms, when the news broke, the show’s star and co-creator, Damon Wayans, expressed heartfelt gratitude to fans who stayed loyal as the series aired during the 2025 television lineup. However, not every reaction was upbeat.
Damon Wayans Share All The Love Despite The Bad News
Regardless of how disheartening it is for an actor to lose their job, it’s particularly distressing when they are a significant contributor behind the scenes as well. However, rather than reacting negatively, Wayans opted to remain positive and view his past experiences with a nostalgic tint.
Experiencing the construction of Poppa’s house was a truly beautiful voyage. I am deeply grateful to each and every one of you who turned Poppa’s House into a significant and memorable experience for me. To the outstanding cast, you infused every scene with warmth, emotion, and happiness. It was a privilege to act alongside you and collaborate on something extraordinary together.
In addition to praising everyone involved in the production, Wayans referred to the entire crew as the “pulse” of the show. He also extended a heartfelt acknowledgment to his son and fellow actor, Damon Wayans Jr., along with other family members who appeared in various roles throughout the series’ solitary season, including Marlon Wayans and Amara Wayans.
And of course, he shared the love for everyone who tuned in on a weekly basis, saying:
Even though Poppa’s House is ending, I’m leaving with a heart full of gratitude, friendships that will last a lifetime, and memories I’ll never forget. This show has given me so much more than I ever expected. To all who watched, supported, and believed in us, thank you from the bottom of my heart. Your love means everything to me. Onward to the next chapter, filled with nothing but love.❤️
Although the final episode of “Poppa’s House” is scheduled to air on April 28, which comes as more challenging news considering the difficulties faced even prior to its 18-episode run, it seems that the journey of creating this series was a rewarding one for the star. However, not all reactions were as enthusiastic.
Poppa’s House Fan Takes Aim At CBS In Brutal Comment
It seems that a fan of “Poppa’s House” was so displeased with the news of its cancellation that they resorted to mentioning one of CBS’ most profitable characters, implying their anger by doing so.
Meanwhile CBS will keep milking that Shelton Cooper multiverse til the tiddy goes dry. Smh.
Regarding the comment’s observation, “The Big Bang Theory” ran for twelve seasons compared to seven seasons of “Young Shendon”. The ongoing series “Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage” is wrapping up its initial season, with a new one already confirmed. Additionally, there’s the upcoming streaming spinoff titled “Stuart Fails to Save the Universe“. In total, that adds up to 20 seasons for Sheldon and the Cooper family, while the Fultons in “Poppa’s House” have only had one season so far.
Fortunately, it’s worth noting that the comments with a somewhat somber tone also backed the idea of the one-and-done sitcom. As anticipated, some of Damon Wayans’ fellow cast members and relatives voiced their opinions on the matter.
- MARLON WAYANS: You know What It is… everything is God. I hear loud and clear. Let’s go
- WENDY RAQUEL ROBINSON: What an honor to share space, create and laugh with you and the ENTIRE @poppashousecbs team and Wayans family🙏🏾 I am blessed by you ALL❤️
- TETONA JACKSON: Forever grateful ❤
- CHAUNTÉ WAYANS: ❤️
- CARA MIA WAYANS: Such a fun learning growing experience! Loved seeing the fam and the crew everyday❤️
- DEON COLE: Love.
- ANIYA WAYANS: Loved every second ❤️
- TOMMY DAVIDSON: ❤️
Let’s cross our fingers that fans will find all they’re anticipating in the final episode of the one-and-only season titled “Magic Shine Again,” which is set to broadcast on CBS on Monday, April 28, at 8:30 p.m. ET. If you can’t catch it live, don’t worry! You can stream it with a Paramount+ subscription.
