Actress Dafne Keen is set to appear alongside Johnny Knoxville in the upcoming, comedic film titled “The Marshmallow Experiment“, which carries a more mature theme.
Sam McCarthy, known for his roles in “Dead to Me” and “Goosebumps: The Vanishing,” will play the lead in “The Marshmallow Experiment.” His character is a sexually-frustrated teenager who decides to disconnect from the internet following an embarrassing romantic incident with his crush. Throughout the story, he navigates a personal journey of self-discovery under the guidance of a talking gorilla. Along the way, he must steer clear of his social media-obsessed parents and malevolent AI personas.

In the movie titled “The Marshmallow Experiment“, McCarthy and Keen will be accompanied by actors such as Knoxville, Sarah Chalke (known for her role in Scrubs), Steve Buscemi (Wednesday), and Josh Lucas (famous for his roles in Yellowstone and The Forever Purge). Directing the film will be Richard Goldgewicht from Pablo, along with Matt Hamilton and Abe Frank. Jayce Barreiro, a star from Virgin River, and Graem Luis (Night Comes) are also involved as producers.

Recently, Keen has just finished reprising her breakthrough role from Logan, opposite Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds, in the 2024 blockbuster Deadpool & Wolverine. The actress subtly suggested that she may take on another role within the Marvel Cinematic Universe during Phase Six now that she’s well-established.

She shared with The Director, “I hope to witness Laura in a lively collaboration too. Not just that, I find charm in her character even in smaller narratives. I had a blast portraying her in ‘Logan’, which was more rugged. That’s exciting…But should the opportunity arise, I would wholeheartedly welcome an epic, full-scale action team up with the Avengers as well.
In August 2024, Keen portrayed the character of half-human, half-Theelin Jedi Padawan Jecki Lon in the Star Wars series titled The Acolyte, which took place during George Lucas’ High Republic era. However, despite positive critical acclaim, Disney Entertainment co-chairman Alan Bergman stated later that it was a financial decision, not renewing the show.
