When Zoe Rule shared her dream of a science fiction wedding with her dad, John Chapman didn’t simply buy costumes. He decided to create them himself.
John, a talented maker of props and models – famous for building full-size Daleks and Cybermen – spent two years meticulously creating all the costumes and life-size decorations for his daughter’s wedding. The event will take place on May 4, 2026, at The Woods, near Salisbury in Wiltshire.
The wedding featured a life-sized K-2SO droid from the movie Rogue One, who surprisingly acted as the officiant for the whole ceremony.
An intergalactic ceremony
The Salisbury Journal reported that Zoe had a unique wedding look, walking down the aisle in a redesigned wedding dress accessorized with armor, a helmet, and a blaster modeled after Sabine Wren from Star Wars Rebels. Her partner, John, accompanied her wearing a full set of Boba Fett Mandalorian armor that he personally constructed.

The wedding had a surprising sci-fi and fantasy theme! Guests dressed up as characters from popular franchises – the wedding party was surrounded by Daleks, Zoe’s sister came as Padmé Amidala, her brother as the Mandalorian (played by Pedro Pascal), and the best man showed up in a complete Spartan suit from the game Halo. One guest even completed the look with armor from Skyrim.
Zoe shared that her father has dedicated a tremendous amount of time and effort to everything he does. She specifically mentioned that he’s hand-made all the costumes – for her, the children, and even the K-2SO character – over the past few years, and she expressed immense gratitude for his hard work.
Science fiction has always been a big part of her life. When she was a baby in November 1996, she was held by Tom Baker – best known as the Fourth Doctor from Doctor Who – during a live charity broadcast for BBC Children in Need. Years later, at age 18, she met Baker again, and he surprisingly remembered holding her as a baby.
Mithiyis, the groom, perfectly captured the feeling of the day, saying, ‘I couldn’t be happier – everything is even more wonderful than I imagined.’
Star Wars fans are known for their elaborate celebrations, and recently, one couple received a special surprise. After a video of them requesting a $700 Lego Star Wars set as a wedding gift went viral, the official Star Wars account gifted them tickets to the premiere of ‘The Acolyte’ in 2024.
