Cyberpunk 2077’s Big New 2.3 Update Delayed

The upcoming major update for Cyberpunk 2077, version 2.3, won’t be released as planned. Developer CD Projekt Red has announced that they require a bit more time to ensure they are satisfied with the final product. The release date, initially scheduled for June 26, has now been postponed indefinitely.

The developer hinted that the upcoming version 2.3 might be comparable in scale to the massive 2.2 update launched in December 2024, and they expressed their gratitude for everyone’s patience.

Hey everyone,
Originally, we planned to release Update 2.3 on June 26. However, we require some additional time to ensure it meets our standards – we’re aiming for a scale comparable to Update 2.2. We’ll keep you informed as soon as possible about any changes!
Thank you for your understanding!

Initially, it was believed that CD Projekt Red had moved on from supporting Cyberpunk 2077 and was focusing on Cyberpunk 2 and The Witcher 4, but contrary to those assumptions, the studio revealed in early June that they are indeed working on a 2.3 update for Cyberpunk 2077. As of now, details regarding what this update will entail remain unknown.

In a straightforward and conversational manner: The latest 2.2 update for Cyberpunk 2077 has brought in more cars, increased appearances of Johnny Silverhand, enhancements to the photo mode, improved character customization options, as well as numerous hidden secrets that CD Projekt Red left for players to uncover on their own exploration.

Cyberpunk 2077 debuted in December 2020 with some initial issues, but it still managed to sell an impressive 13.7 million copies within a short period, making it one of the top-selling RPGs ever. Over time, CD Projekt Red refined and enhanced the gameplay through updates, peaking with the 2.0 update that essentially relaunched the game. The Phantom Liberty expansion featuring Idris Elba was released in September 2023, and since then, the game has surpassed sales of 30 million copies.

Currently, a follow-up titled “Cyberpunk 2” is being worked on, but most of CD Projekt Red’s team is engrossed in creating “The Witcher 4” for now.

In more straightforward terms: More recently, CD Projekt Red released Cyberpunk 2077 for what’s being called the Nintendo Switch 2. It wasn’t as difficult as expected to get the game running on this console. As per a report, at its launch, Cyberpunk 2077 became the best-selling non-Nintendo game for the Nintendo Switch 2.
