Cyberpunk 2077 On Switch 2 Apparently Supports Mouse And Keyboard

This week, the newly-released Switch 2 was unveiled alongside Cyberpunk 2077, demonstrating the capabilities of its latest hardware. Interestingly, it has been found that the Switch 2 edition of Cyberpunk 2077 allows for mouse and keyboard as input devices, expanding the ways in which players can enjoy CD Projekt Red’s RPG.

As a fan, I’d like to clarify that Cyberpunk 2077 supports standard mice, not just the functionality that the Joy-Con 2 offers. While Nintendo didn’t delve much into this compatibility before the console’s release, it seems Switch 2 owners have discovered that it works with keyboards and mice without any special setup. YouTube creator Blunty even shared a video demonstrating gameplay on Switch 2, showing how you can switch between Joy-Con 2 controls and mouse-and-keyboard input.

It appears CD Projekt Red might have designed Cyberpunk 2077 for compatibility with keyboards and mice on the Switch 2. Interestingly, when the input method is switched, the on-screen buttons adjust to resemble keyboard keys. However, it’s not flawless – some prompts seem truncated. Nevertheless, based on the video demonstration, the regular PC controls function as anticipated on the Switch 2.

On the new console, the mouse and keyboard compatibility isn’t explicitly stated due to it being a partially concealed feature. For example, Blunty is using a wireless keyboard and mouse setup, but he doesn’t specify whether these connect via USB dongle or Bluetooth. The gaming community for the Switch 2 will undoubtedly explore the boundaries of this functionality further; we’ll just have to stay tuned to see if Nintendo sheds light on this matter in the future.

This week saw the release of Switch 2, with Mario Kart World and third-party titles such as Cyberpunk 2077 leading the initial lineup. Despite preorders being exhausted for several weeks prior, some retailers managed to offer a limited number of consoles to customers on launch day. At the moment, they’re out of stock, but we expect more restocks in the coming days and will keep you posted with any updates. If you were fortunate enough to secure a Switch 2 during its first week, don’t forget to explore all the games available for Switch 2 so far, the top-rated Switch 2 launch titles, and all the games scheduled for upgrades on Switch 2.
