As Jeremy Jordan-Jones, I’m under scrutiny for allegations that I, the supposed founder of Amalgam – a crypto venture that didn’t pan out as intended – misappropriated over a million dollars from investors. The accusation is that instead of utilizing these funds to establish the promised payment system, I diverted them towards maintaining a lavish lifestyle.
Jordan-Jones asserted that Amalgam created blockchain-integrated point-of-sale payment systems, but allegedly fabricated significant business alliances with high-profile entities such as the Golden State Warriors, a top soccer team from the Premier League, and a prominent restaurant chain boasting more than 500 locations. However, according to the authorities, these partnerships were purely fictitious.
Jordan-Jones successfully persuaded investors, among them the venture capital group known as Brown Venture Group, that their investments would aid in listing Amalgam’s crypto token on a trading platform. However, rather than utilizing the funds for their intended purpose, Jordan-Jones instead diverted the money towards expenses such as hotels and restaurants in Miami, high-end vehicles, and designer apparel.
The U.S. Attorney, Jay Clayton, described the scheme as bold, signaling a warning to other potential fraudsters that they are under surveillance. He stated that the company operated by Jordan-Jones was essentially fake, and the investors’ funds were misused to finance his extravagant lifestyle.
Additionally, prosecutors claimed that Jordan-Jones provided false papers to a banking institution in order to obtain a business credit card. The account was used to accumulate approximately $350,000 in debt before it was closed by the bank.
He’s accused of various offenses such as wire fraud, stock fraud, lying under oath, and severe identity theft. If found guilty, Jordan-Jones might be sentenced to a maximum of 82 years behind bars.
