Critical Role Is Developing A Video Game

Previously, the creative minds responsible for Critical Role had suggested a shared ambition to develop a video game. Excitingly, that dream is now becoming a reality as Critical Role teams up with AdHoc, the studio known for creating the upcoming superhero action-RPG titled Dispatch.

As reported by Variety, the upcoming game is expected to take place within the universe of Exandria – a world crafted specifically for Critical Role’s fantasy adventures. Additionally, Travis Willingham from Critical Role hinted that beloved characters such as Vox Machina, Mighty Nein, and Bells Hells might make an appearance, but any storyline would need to be fresh and original.

In the new game, it was Willingham who played a significant role in teaming up AdHoc for joint development following his casting in Dispatch. He pointed out that Critical Role intends to mirror Dispatch’s approach and allow the storyline to evolve according to the players’ decisions.

Willingham mentioned that they’re brainstorming various concepts. They’re considering aspects like scale and cost, and there are certain elements they’re determined to include. You can expect to see characters you enjoy the most.

The performer clarified that Critical Role views their latest project not as a big-budget production, and they aim to finish it ahead of the usual five-year schedule common in bigger productions.

This year, the design team behind Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition, who were previously employed by Critical Role’s Darrington Press, have been tasked with creating new fantasy ventures for the company. Not too long ago, it was announced that Critical Role would be collaborating on a project with Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
