In an exciting fusion of top-tier sports and movie production, soccer icon Cristiano Ronaldo and renowned filmmaker Matthew Vaughn have launched UR•Marv, their shared film studio venture.
This independent film studio aspires to shake up traditional movie-making by combining cutting-edge technology with a respect for the past. The collaboration has already produced tangible successes, including two completed action movies that Vaugh and Ronaldo jointly financed and produced through UR•Marv, and a third in the works as part of the same series. Further details about the first film will be revealed soon.
I’m thrilled about the journey that lies ahead, as I embark on fresh business endeavors,” (Ronaldo says).
Cristiano Ronaldo has crafted tales on the field that I could never have penned, and I eagerly anticipate collaborating with him on uplifting films. He truly embodies a real-life superhero,” Vaughn remarked.
Matt Vaughn, the well-known British film director known for his stylish and dynamic storytelling, has established a unique place within the action genre. His directorial repertoire includes movies like “Layer Cake” (2004), “Kick-Ass” (2010), and “X-Men: First Class” (2011), all of which showcase his talent for combining sharp humor with intense action. In 2014, Vaughn reached the heights of pop culture with the “Kingsman” series, a well-dressed mix of satirical espionage and grandiose violence. Through his production company Marv, Vaughn has created a self-sustaining creative environment, not only producing his own films but also launching spin-offs and multi-platform expansions. In 2024, Vaughn directed “Argylle,” an espionage thriller starring Henry Cavill and Bryce Dallas Howard. There are also two more “Kingsman” movies in the pipeline.
In October 2023, soccer legend Cristiano Ronaldo made a significant investment in Medialivre (previously known as Cofina Media), a major Portuguese media group that controls popular outlets like Correio da Manhã and Record. Showcasing his tech-savvy side, Ronaldo launched the YouTube channel “UR Cristiano” in August 2024, offering fans exclusive access to his life through a range of content, such as personal stories and challenges. This move into media projects highlights Ronaldo’s determination to strengthen his impact in the entertainment world, securing the enduring relevance of his brand long after he hangs up his soccer cleats.
