In Monster Hunter Wilds, there’s a variety of creatures, including beasts, wyverns, and colossal insects. The Temnoceran family, in particular, houses some of the most unsettling and crawly monsters within this game series, and they display an array of forms and dimensions.
Regardless of whether it’s favorable or unfavorable, Temnocerans comprise just a minor fraction of the overall monster population in Monster Hunter Wilds. In case you’re curious about which creatures belong to this group for any reason, here’s a brief guide to assist you.
What are Temnocerans in MH Wilds?
To clarify, Temnocerans encompass a variety of arachnid creatures, characterized by their typical possession of eight legs. These beings are also known to produce and expel silk or webbing material. They differ fundamentally from the beetle-like Neopterons (such as Bulaqchi, Comaqchi, Vespoids, Ahtal-Ka) and the crustacean-like Carapaceons (including Hermitaurs, Shen Gaoren, Akura Vashimu).
Currently, there are just two types of Temnoceran monsters found in Monster Hunter Wilds, but additional ones might be introduced through upcoming title updates or potential expansions down the line.
Nerscylla

The Nerscylla is a big creature reminiscent of a common spider, sporting eight legs, numerous eyes, robust claws, and venomous sacs. Equipped with pincer-like jaws that they deploy once their prey is motionless, these creatures defend themselves by spinning adhesive webs to ensnare pursuers, followed by a pincer attack.
Nerscyllas have a vulnerability to Fire attacks, and it’s possible to transform their components into sleep-inducing weapons or armor. Particularly sought after are Nerscylla Claws, which are ideal for crafting such items.
Lala Barina

The Lala Barina is a six-legged Temnoceran that boasts an extraordinary floral-like appearance. Typically, they resemble common spider-like creatures with sharp legs and a cloud of white fur. But when provoked, Lala Barinas have the ability to expand their bodies to display a rose-like cluster of red hairs and a concealed stinger that can be extended as defense.
As a gamer, I’ve encountered some pretty strange foes, but none quite like the ones that can unleash red spider lilies while in a fight. These blossoms seem harmless at first, but they’ve got a knack for paralyzing anything they touch. Not only that, these creatures sport massive stingers hidden in their abdomen, which, you guessed it, are also equipped with paralyzing powers. Quite the formidable adversaries!
Similar to Nerscyllas, Lala Barinas have a vulnerability towards Fire attacks. Their stingers, petals, and claws can be damaged and weakened if they receive sufficient harm.
Other Temnocerans
To date, the Rakna-Kadaki from MH Rise is the only other substantial Temnoceran character in the Monster Hunter series, resembling Nerscyllas in general form and conduct. However, unlike their counterparts, Rakna-Kadakis utilize Fire attacks and exhibit a resistance to Fire damage. Furthermore, Rakna-Kadakis bear offspring known as Rachnoids, which are also categorized as Temnocerans.
