Creature Feature ‘Lake Jesup: Bonecrusher’s Revenge’ Picked up by Black Mandala for World Sales (EXCLUSIVE)

As a die-hard fan of creature features and horror films that tap into our deepest fears, I can’t help but be excited about “Lake Jesup: Bonecrusher’s Revenge.” Having grown up watching classics like “Jaws” and “Alligator,” the nostalgic vibe this film promises is simply irresistible.

The New Zealand sales company, Black Mandala, has acquired global distribution rights for the movie titled “Lake Jesup: Bonecrusher’s Revenge,” a finished horror film centered around the American lake with the highest alligator population.

In 2003, Lake Jesup turned into a scene of a chilling true tale when a colossal alligator, famously known as Bonecrusher, broke free from its enclosure at Gator Galaxy, an animal theme park, and began attacking humans in the lake. As the death toll rose, it became evident that bringing this beast under control would necessitate a massive manhunt operation.

The story centers on a 13-day manhunt for a relentlessly dangerous predator, fueled by anger and trained by none other than Bubba Coggins, a seasoned hunter. However, as he devises a plan to subdue the beast, Bubba uncovers that they have both been betrayed by the avaricious park owner, Angus Sullivan. This revelation forces Bubba to confront his inner struggles and decide how far he’s prepared to go to protect himself, the townsfolk, and defeat an underwater killing machine.

Michael Houston King, both an actor and a writer, is responsible for penning and directing the movie. He’s best known for his acting roles in Homeland and Burn Notice, and for writing The Way Back Home. The main cast features Derek Russo, Jeff Beninghofen, and Houston King himself.

The production is a collaboration between Crown Creative Content and Valencia Motion Pictures, with AEO handling the visual effects.

Similar to classic terror-on-the-water films like ‘Jaws’ (1975) and ‘Alligator’ (1980), ‘Lake Jesup’ delves into the primal dread of being pursued by a relentless beast hiding below the surface. Houston King pointed out that ‘Lake Jesup’ is deliberately filmed with warmer colors to mimic the iconic atmosphere of those earlier movies, maintaining an ageless visual appeal and aesthetic.

Michael Kraetzer from Black Mandala stated that the storyline skillfully combines elements of horror, mystery, and some witty humor, which is characteristic of the monster movie genre,” or simply, “Michael Kraetzer noted that the tale effectively mixes horror, suspense, and a touch of comedic relief, a common trait in creature-feature films.

The company has lately acquired “1978,” a chilling horror-torture movie that first appeared at the Sitges fantasy film festival, and in the past managed “Mother Superior,” a Gothic horror film centered around Nazi racial experiments. (Paraphrased)
