As a seasoned gamer who’s witnessed the evolution of RPGs over the past three decades, I can confidently say that Dennis Presnell’s calm demeanor about Avowed is more than just a show of cool composure; it’s a testament to his unwavering faith in his craft. Having worked on some of the most iconic RPGs like Fallout 1 and 2, Baldur’s Gate, Planescape: Torment, and more recently Pillars of Eternity and The Outer Worlds, this man knows a thing or two about what it takes to create an immersive gaming experience.

Currently, Avowed is generating significant excitement among RPG gamers. Given that it’s being developed by Obsidian Entertainment – creators of critically acclaimed games like Fallout: New Vegas and Pillars of Eternity – this anticipation isn’t unexpected. Despite the usual stress associated with major game releases, one developer associated with Avowed appears remarkably tranquil about the upcoming project.

We’re talking about Dennis Presnell, who has been working on RPGs for 27 years. He usually works as an environment artist and has contributed to titles such as Fallout 1 and 2, Baldur’s Gate 1 and 2, and Planescape: Torment. In 2003, he moved to Obsidian Entertainment, where he worked on The Outer Worlds, the previously mentioned New Vegas, and Pillars of Eternity.

The programmer boasts a wealth of knowledge and understands well the emotional surge that often accompanies the unveiling of an eagerly awaited video game. Normally, as the release date approaches, he experiences a sense of apprehension. However, in the case of “Avowed”, he seems remarkably composed and assured.

I’ve been harboring a mix of unease and jitters throughout, but as we near the completion of this project, my self-assurance has never been greater. It’s truly exhilarating to witness everything falling into place so seamlessly. The team is wrapping up tasks, squashing bugs, and fine-tuning performance. When we finally unveil this game to the public, I will be immensely proud of our achievement. Frankly, I can hardly contain my excitement.

It’s clear that Presnell strongly believes in the triumph of Avowed and is certain that the studio has crafted an exceptional game. But, will players feel the same way? We’ll see on February 18th when the game launches for PC and Xbox Series X/S.
