“Craziest” Chicago Bears fan goes viral with 157 tattoos of players’ and coaches’ signatures

Being a football fan looks different for everyone, but one Chicago Bears enthusiast has shown an incredible level of dedication that’s rare to see.

Okay, so you won’t believe this, but I recently saw this interview with a Bears fan named Glenn Timmerman – he’s seriously dedicated! The guy has gotten 157 autographs tattooed all over himself! I’m talking head to toe – arms, legs, back, chest, the whole nine yards. I saw it on NBC 5 Chicago back in December 2025, and it was wild. He calls himself the ‘craziest’ Bears fan, and honestly, I’m not arguing!

I was chatting with sports anchor Mike Berman, and things got a little… revealing. I was showing off my Bears man cave – it’s gotten seriously packed with collectibles – and ended up doing the interview shirtless! It just felt right, you know?

A lifetime of Bears autographs turned into tattoos

He stated during the interview, which NBC Chicago later posted on Instagram, that they had completed 157 projects and were continuing to work on additional ones.

You wouldn’t believe this guy’s tattoos! He showed off some incredible work during the segment, including a portrait of former Bears player and coach Doug Plank right on the back of his shaved head – above a Bears logo, no less! And then there was this amazing tattoo of Brian Urlacher, the retired linebacker, on his forearm. Seriously, a total Bears superfan!

The idea originated with Otis Wilson, a linebacker from the 1985 Super Bowl champion Bears. Timmerman explained that Wilson was at a game when a fan asked him to sign their arm, hoping to turn the signature into a tattoo.

Timmerman remembered Wilson initially doubting he’d actually do it, saying Wilson exclaimed something along the lines of, ‘Oh no!’

Two weeks after the agreement, the fan showed up at Wilson’s autograph signing at Bass Pro Shops – he’d already gotten the tattoo!

He noticed me, stood up, and immediately asked, ‘Did you get it?’ I excitedly replied, ‘Yes!’ Then he turned me around and announced to everyone, ‘Here’s a fan, everyone!’

Glenn has kept up his unique practice of getting signatures tattooed directly onto his skin, which he says removes the hassle of carrying collectibles to conventions.

He chuckled, saying he didn’t need to worry about carrying much anymore. He could ditch his credit card, but he wasn’t going anywhere without his Sharpie.

Timmerman said his favorite tattoo is a signature from his former coach, Mike Ditka, and that Ditka liked it when he saw it.

He’s hoping to get autographs from current Bears players in the future, particularly quarterback Caleb Williams and wide receiver D.J. Moore.

So, I’ve been collecting autographs for a while now, and there’s still one big one I haven’t gotten. Apparently, Jim McMahon, the old Bears quarterback, turned down my request! It’s a bummer, but hopefully I can track him down again someday.

He identified the player as Jim McMahon, their former energetic quarterback, and expressed optimism that a reunion might be possible in the future.

This Bears fan isn’t alone in getting a celebrity’s name tattooed on their body. Last year, a fan of MrBeast became popular online after getting the YouTuber’s name tattooed on themselves many times.
