The long-awaited sequel to the hit indie game Crashlands 2, which combines survival and RPG genres, finally dropped yesterday (April 10) from Butterscotch Shenanigans. Yet, not everyone is thrilled because it’s only available on PCs and mobile devices (Android and iOS). Could there be additional platforms supported in the future?

Crashlands 2 on consoles? Xbox, PS5, PS4 and Switch ports explained

As per the information provided on their official site, there are currently no plans for a console version of Crashlands 2. However, it’s important to note that such plans could potentially change in the future given that the original game is already available on platforms like Xbox and Nintendo Switch, indicating that console development is not unfamiliar territory for the developers.

Additionally, although the Steam page hasn’t officially confirmed it (as of the publication of this article), Butterscotch Shenanigans studio has revealed that the game is compatible with the Steam Deck. This lends credence to the idea that console porting is not an insurmountable task.

While it’s not guaranteed that Crashlands 2 will appear on other platforms in the future, if there’s enough demand from fans, developers Butterscotch Shenanigans might reconsider their decision. Ultimately, the final choice lies with them. But, even though the chances are slim, don’t give up hope! Keep an eye on official channels for updates. If you want to see Crashlands 2 on consoles, be sure to express your interest by commenting on their posts and encouraging them to reconsider.
