Cops confront Pokemon card scalper after unplugging machine to bypass purchase limits

A supervisor contacted the local authorities when they caught someone manipulating a Pokemon card vending machine, specifically by disconnecting it in order to exceed its purchasing limits multiple times.

In recent times, the issue of unscrupulous trading of Pokemon cards has grown significantly. This has led to physical altercations and disputes, such as those occurring in Costco parking lots over fresh releases, as well as manipulating vending machines for the same purpose. Remarkably, some individuals have even resorted to using fake currency to deceive card scalpers.

At one point, a reseller pursued a replenisher from shop to shop, intending to purchase stock ahead of them and consistently being the earliest to arrive in line.

In contrast, certain retailers are adopting measures. For instance, GameStop has imposed buying limits to prevent brawls in their aisles; meanwhile, other stores aren’t hesitant to contact law enforcement when individuals exploit the system to hoard Pokemon merchandise excessively.

Manager goes viral after calling the cops on Pokemon card scalper

A TikTok video posted by ‘bao5973’ shows an encounter between the police and a person suspected of being a scalper, who was found pushing a shopping cart filled with items he purchased using his credit card.

The manager informed the police that he said, “Hey, hold on there, let’s not go for everything.” Then, the individual disconnected the device.

The ticket reseller contended that there was no mention of a purchase limit on the vending machine, and now he’s having trouble obtaining a refund for the tickets he unwittingly purchased.

“Now you gotta pay it off,” the manager quipped.

The officer inquired, “Is there a solution that leaves both the customer satisfied and our business thriving?” This question reflects his desire to find a compromise beneficial for all parties.

It’s unclear which resolution was eventually found, but the users in the comments expressed bewilderment over why the police had to get involved in this particular situation.

“Grown adults crying over Pokemon is wild,” one said.

If someone disconnects the device, it might be seen as interfering with business operations or even destruction (vandalism). Another individual agreed.

“I hope all scalpers get trespassed from all stores,” someone else remarked.

The user claims that despite the machine having set purchasing limits, this individual managed to acquire 25 items at once, which led the employee to become flustered or confused.

Ever since it was posted on April 2nd, the video has spread like wildfire across various Pokemon card communities, racking up more than 600,000 views on TikTok by itself.
