Cookie Clicker Is Coming To Consoles, Including Nintendo Switch 2

Publisher Playsaurus has revealed that the popular game Cookie Clicker will be available on consoles starting May 22, which is just a week from now. Initially launched online in 2013 and later on Steam in 2021, this pioneering idle game is set to make its console debut on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and even the yet-to-be-released Switch 2 (at a future date).

Nintendo’s listing for Cookie Clicker indicates that the game will be priced at $5, which matches the cost of the Steam version of this idle game. Developers Playsaurus are promising over 600 upgrades in Cookie Clicker, along with the option to interact with a dragon by petting it. For those not familiar, the gameplay involves clicking on a cookie to produce more cookies.

It’s been shown that games in the clicker or idle category have gained quite a following on Steam. For example, last month, more than 100,000 individuals were playing Bongo Cat. This game features a cat tapping a toolbar while the player clicks their mouse or types. As you progress, you can collect hats for your virtual feline companion.

Last year, I found myself and millions of others worldwide clicking away on the sensationally popular game, Banana. With its recent updates introducing exciting new skins, it became an even more immersive experience. At one point, according to SteamDB, a staggering 1 million players were playing concurrently on Steam โ€“ a testament to its ever-growing popularity!

Remember that Switch 2 is set to release on June 5th, but it remains uncertain if Cookie Clicker will be available for the new system on that day or at a later time.
