As a seasoned farmer and long-time fan of the Farming Simulator series, I must admit that the release of FS25 has been a bittersweet experience for me. On one hand, I am thrilled to return to my virtual farm, tending to my crops and livestock once again. On the other hand, the controller issues have made the journey back less than smooth.
The roots of Farming Simulator, developed by Giants Software, stretch back to 2008. Skipping a year’s release (excluding a children’s spin-off), the developers have returned with FS25, but it appears they could have benefited from extra development time, as the game seems plagued with bugs. Players have encountered crashes upon launch, stutters, and screen flickering, among other issues. Furthermore, many find the method for changing languages confusing. To top it off, numerous players are experiencing controller compatibility problems within this game. Let’s delve further into these concerns to understand what might be causing them.
Controller problems in FS25 explained
It appears PC gamers are frequently accustomed to the comfort of game controllers due to their simple connection to computers. These days, gamepads are commonly utilized across numerous games. Farming Simulator 25 is a game designed to evoke the peaceful atmosphere of a farm, where you can cultivate crops and nurture animals. However, using a pad in this game doesn’t seem to function properly, leaving one to unwind in their chair… only to find that the controller isn’t working as expected. So, why is that?
With how many different devices there are, root cause might be different for various players. Below you will find the most common problems that plague fans and some fixes that can help you get up and running:
- On the Steam page of the title, we can see that FS25 supports Xbox Controllers and even DualShock. Yet bear in mind that DualSense (PS5 gamepad) is not officially supported. Moreover, if you use the PS4 one, it must be connected via a cable!
- Make sure that the controller that you would like to use is the only one connected to your PC. If you have a wheel, unplug it from your computer. With no gamepads connected, restart the game, and then use the desired one.
- In the Steam options (right click on FS25 in Steam library > properties > controller settings), disable / enable Steam Input depending on your current setting.
- If you have issues with zooming in or out camera while in a vehicle, it doesn’t work when you accelerate / decelerate in manual transmission machines. To zoom in / out use up and down on the D-pad, while no other buttons are pressed.
