Complete Guardian Remembrance Quest Guide In Elden Ring Nightreign

Besides battling the Nightlords, a crucial aspect in the main story of Elden Ring: Nightreign, is that every character also possesses an individual narrative unfolding through Remembrance questlines. Delving deeper into each character’s tale brings about significant rewards that can be beneficial for players as they continue their adventures in Limveld.

In this game, the Guardian undergoes the most extensive personal transformation among all characters. His narrative is intricate and linked with several other characters within the Roundtable Hold. Additionally, acquiring memory fragments for the Guardian’s storyline takes more effort compared to other characters.

Requirements: The Journal, Memory Fragments, And Revenant

As a gamer, before I embark on the Guardian questline, there are a few prerequisites that need to be met first. The most straightforward is unlocking the journal – this will become accessible once I’ve completed the tutorial run and return to the Roundtable Hold. It’s tucked away in a room right next to where you choose your character.

Moving forward, it’s essential that you gain access to the character known as Revenant. While she may not be necessary during the Guardian’s initial questline, you’ll find it impossible to progress beyond Chapter 8 without her unlocked. Therefore, I’d recommend addressing this prerequisite earlier in your journey. Unlocking her involves successfully completing a particular battle, which might require some practice or multiple attempts.

To summarize, Memory Fragments stand out from the other necessities as they are not just obtained once but rather required repeatedly during your journey through the questline. These fragments play a crucial role in advancing the narrative along its course.

One straightforward method for obtaining memory fragments is through defeating the Nightlords. Initially within the narrative, memory fragments could also be earned by not succeeding during an expedition. However, as the story progresses, players will need to conquer at least one or more Nightlords in order to secure a memory fragment.

Guardian Remembrance Questline

Chapter 4

In Chapter 4 is where your first opportunity to re-experience memories arises with Guardian. Therefore, it’s best to keep gathering memory shards until you eventually progress to Chapter 4. Typically, one successful journey will open up all chapters leading up to Chapter 4.

Start logging events in your journal, and upon resumption, find yourself in a room with both Raider and Iron Worker. Continue conversing with Iron Worker multiple times, as this interaction will occur four times in total. So, whenever the dialogue concludes, initiate another conversation until you receive a personal task related to defeating a Guardian Golem.

First, make your way to the central room for a new adventure. Once you reach Limveld, your map will be adjusted with an orange symbol indicating the spot of your individual mission. This area houses the Guardian Golem. Therefore, venture there and inspect the Golem to bring it back to life.

The Guardian Golem moves sluggishly and follows a consistent pattern, but the impact of its attacks is catastrophic. Should you manage to strike one of his feet repeatedly, he’ll crumple, leaving him unconscious – providing an ideal moment for you to inflict maximum damage without any danger lurking nearby.

After I’ve bested the Guardian Golem, it leaves behind a prized find – a Stone Stake. With this objective met, I can opt to cut my losses and make a swift exit back to Roundtable Hold. Once there, I should catch up with Iron Menial again and present him with my newfound treasure. Lastly, interacting with the spell gate that materializes in the room’s corner will wrap up this memorable adventure.

After returning to the present, you will receive the Stone Stake relic as a reward.

Chapter 6

To move forward and access Chapter 5, you first need to finish the task given in Chapter 4. However, the next step isn’t immediately available; it appears in Chapter 6. To progress there, you must collect ‘memory shards’. It is also important to note that vanquishing a Nightlord ensures a drop of these memory fragments at this stage in the narrative.

When a memory piece surfaces, start recounting events in Chapter 6. In this instance, you’ll encounter a new character, referred to as the visitor, within Roundtable Hold. He can be found in the very same room where the Change Garb drawer is situated. Speak with him twice to obtain the enigmatic charm. If you engage him in conversation for a third time, he will propose some relics in exchange for Murk. Subsequently, return to the main hall at Roundtable Hold and you’ll suddenly faint.

After rising from sleep, encounter the visitor once more, eliminate him, and seize his ledger. Regardless of your desire to let him be, the narrative won’t advance. Therefore, you must eliminate him. Now, finalize your recollections, and upon your return to the present, secure the Guardian’s Chalice as a prize.

Chapter 7

Once you complete Chapter 6, the following chapter will open on its own without needing any memory fragments. Therefore, start recalling events for Chapter 7 and converse with Iron Menial in the room located behind the journal’s chamber. Share with him what transpired for the visitor, and present him with the Merchant’s Ledger. Now, Iron Menial will assign you a new personal mission – to locate the Demon Merchant within Limveld.

How To Find The Demon Merchant In Limveld

As a dedicated follower of the Guardian’s epic quest, I must confess that acquiring the third volume of the book from the Demon Merchant is a real challenge. You can get the tome more easily by encountering the demon in Limveld and parting with 10,000 Runes. However, there’s often a catch – he doesn’t always show up on my map. This situation remains somewhat of an enigma, but it seems that every player eventually locates the elusive Demon Merchant during their expeditions.

The Demon Merchant should show up on your map with an orange marker like other personal objectives, but keep in mind that you might not see any objective markers at all if you don’t choose the right expedition. I encountered the Demon Merchant during the Tricephalos expedition, but some players have mentioned seeing it in Augur’s expedition. I had tried Augur before Tricephalos, but it didn’t appear for me then. Some players have reported receiving the marker in the Equilibrious Beast expedition instead.

In essence, what you’re suggesting is to tackle each Nightlord individually, initiating expeditions one after another. Keep an eye on your map as you embark on these adventures. If the objective symbol doesn’t appear, consider the expedition a failure and move on to another Nightlord. Continue this process until you spot the marker for the Demon Merchant. Remember to collect 10,000 Runes prior to meeting him. When interacting with the demon, opt for the choice “I want the tome” to receive the third installment of the book.

One method for obtaining the Third Volume involves a simpler approach, but there’s another challenging path – vanquishing the Equilibrious Beast. Remember this option, and embark on an expedition to confront the beast by Day 3. In the midst of battle, he might propose a deal, but at that moment, he won’t offer the Third Volume. Regardless of whether you accept his proposal or not, you must vanquish him to secure the Third Volume, for he is known as the Demon Merchant.”

This revised version aims to maintain the original meaning while making it more natural and easier to read.

Regardless of how you acquired the Third Volume, present it to Iron Menial upon your return to Roundtable Hold and complete the remembrance. You’ll be given the relic of the Third Volume when you are back in the current timeline.

Chapter 9

Once you reach the conclusion of Chapter 7, you’ll gain access to Chapter 8, but there’s no way to re-experience it. To proceed further, you’ll need to gather more memory fragments. It is essential that at this stage, Revenant has already been unlocked. Otherwise, you won’t be able to collect any memory fragments necessary for progress beyond Chapter 8.

Additionally, keep in mind that overcoming multiple Nightlords might be necessary to advance to Chapter 9, or alternatively, defeating the Night Aspect will suffice if you’ve previously unlocked it.

Once Chapter 9 is unlocked, start the search, and you’ll discover a letter on the Roundtable Hold. Give it a read, then venture into merchant Jar’s chamber. Inside a shelf, you’ll spot a book with a silver mark on its top corner. Make sure to peruse that too. Afterward, exit from the same room and locate Recluse who can be found standing near the cliff’s edge. If you find it hard to find her location, consult your map for assistance.

In a conversation with Recluse, you’ll find yourself presented with two choices: either to mete out punishment or show forgiveness. Regardless of your decision, the role of Guardian ensures that Recluse will ultimately be forgiven. Now, let’s wrap up this recollection and return to the present moment.

You’ll get the “Guardian’s Commemorative Skin” along with the “Witch’s Amulet Relic” as your concluding prizes. The narrative for the Guardian will be wrapped up at this point.
