FragPunk is a fast-paced, team-based first-person shooter, similar to games like Valorant and CS2, yet with unique features such as Shard Cards that modify battle mechanics. In addition to these tactical shooting games, FragPunk offers a rank mode where players face opponents of comparable skill level, striving to climb the leaderboard.
How to unlock the Ranked mode in FragPunk
In the menu where you choose your gaming mode, you’ll notice that FragPunk Ranked becomes accessible once your account has achieved a level of 30. To advance your player level, engage in the various game modes available and collect Experience Points (XP). Be mindful that these daily and weekly challenges exclusively award Battle Pass XP. Instead, focus on earning Account Points (AP), which are depicted in the picture provided.
AP can be acquired through various gameplay experiences such as Shard Clash, Outbreak, Rocketers, and other Arcade modes. While victory isn’t crucial, both teams receive AP following each match. A stellar performance with kills grants additional XP. To accelerate leveling up at a rate of 50% faster, consider investing in the $10 monthly membership.
All Ranks in FragPunk
As a dedicated FragPunk player, I can’t help but notice the skill-based rank progression system that takes us from Bronze to Punkmaster. This means that I’m often pitted against opponents with similar or slightly varying skills, either of the same rank as mine or one tier above or below. Here’s a breakdown of all the ranks in this game, starting from the initial level for newbies and moving up to the highest rank for seasoned veterans:
1. Noob
2. Bronze
3. Silver
4. Gold
5. Platinum
6. Diamond
7. Master
8. Punkmaster
- Bronze
- Silver
- Gold
- Platinum
- Diamond
- Master
- Punkmaster
At first, each participant begins in the Bronze league. To advance through the tiers, they must win games and exhibit strong performance. The number of points you earn for advancing depends on your current rank since competition becomes tougher at higher levels. Playing with a cooperative team that communicates effectively can help you reach the top tier by the end of the season.
It’s worth noting that the ranking system in FragPunk separates into two tiers: Regular, which spans from Bronze to Platinum, and Advanced, going from Diamond to Punkmaster. This distinct rank structure makes FragPunk stand out among other 5v5 shooter games such as Valorant.
How does the Ranked Shard Clash work in FragPunk
In Rank Shard Clash Regular matches, during the initial four ranks, gameplay resembles casual mode, with two teams of five players each battling it out. The objective is either to plant or defuse a bomb, or eliminate all opposing team members. Shard Cards significantly impact the game, granting temporary boosts, detractions, or special effects for both sides. Each match consists of 11 rounds, and the first team to achieve victory in 6 rounds is declared the winner. In case of a tie, a one-on-one duel ensues to decide the victor.
Instead, Rank Shard Clash Advanced introduces a change to the card selection process compared to the Regular mode. Each team chooses a Card Captain who has the power to veto two cards from their deck of 8 Shard Cards before each round (as shown in the image above). If no decision is made, a Card Captain will be chosen at random.
At the beginning of the game, both team leaders will choose three cards apiece. The attackers get to pick their card first. Then, defenders are given the opportunity to pick two cards at once. This is followed by two more picks for the attackers and a final pick for the defender. If you haven’t reached Diamond rank in FragPunk yet, you can still participate in the Advanced Shard Clash in casual mode, but first, you need to reach account level 30.
