Complete Egg Pattern List For Monster Hunter Stories 3

In Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection, you’ll find yourself searching for Monstie eggs within Monster Dens. These Dens are simpler than in previous games – they’re now single, small areas – but they can sometimes have unusual events happening inside.

When you first find monster eggs, it’s hard to tell what creature is inside. Luckily, each egg has a unique design, and we’ve created a guide to help you identify which Monstie is in each one and where to locate them.

This article contains spoilers as it lists all monsters, you’ve been warned!

How Monster Dens Work

Monster Dens are caves you can find on the map. Inside each one, you’ll discover a nest of eggs and some items you can collect.

You’re only allowed to take one egg per nest, and you must bring it back to the entrance without getting defeated. Each time you collect an egg, Rudy will remark on its powerful genetic qualities.

  • No glow means it’s a normal, fairly potent egg.
  • A golden glow means it’s a very potent egg.
  • A prism glow means it’s a highly potent egg.

As a player, I’ve learned that if I don’t like the egg I get, I can try gathering from the nest again to get a different one. But it’s good to know that in most dens, you can only swap the egg a limited number of times, so you have to make those swaps count!

After you get it, you can go back and fight any monsters without worrying about losing the egg.

There might be a monster sleeping or already awake in the den. Moving eggs from a nest increases the likelihood of a monster appearing or waking up and attacking you. Rudy will give you a heads-up if this is about to happen.

You can carry 12 eggs at a time, and you can return any to the den at any time from your inventory.

Strange Phenomena

Sometimes, my buddy Rudy will chime in when I enter a den and let me know something weird is going on. Basically, he’ll point out one of the strange things happening there.

  • Two nests with unlimited gathering attempts.
  • Barrel Felynes are running around (they disappear quickly, so act fast!).
  • More gathering spots appear (and often, rarer spots).

There’s a higher chance of strange phenomena occurring at night.

Complete Monstie Egg Pattern List

When you first find an egg, it will give you a clue about what kind of Monster it is, but you won’t know the exact species until it hatches. That’s where our list of patterns can help!
