Back in the ’80s, I was captivated by the Commodore 64, leading the charge in the home computer revolution. Today, I’m thrilled to learn that retro publisher Ziggurat Interactive is reviving a collection of timeless games from the C64 era with Cosmi: Forbidden Forests. It even features a fresh remaster of Forbidden Forests!
80’s classics, Forbidden Forest and Beyond the Forbidden Forest, are now part of this awesome collection! The real gem here though, is the updated take on the original game, Forbidden Forests, which turns its classic 2D art into something akin to an intricate medieval tapestry. As a player, you’ll have the freedom to switch between the original and the revamped visuals and audio whenever you want. Check out a sneak peek of this remaster in the trailer below!
In this retro collection, you’ll find classic games such as Aztec Challenge, Caverns of Khafka, Seal, Delta Man, Chomp!, Chernobyl: Nuclear Power Plant Simulation, Spite & Malice, and Navcom 6: The Persian Gulf Defense. These original titles maintain their Commodore 64 visuals and gameplay, but now come with additional features like the option to rewind actions or save states for a more convenient gaming experience.
Ant Williams and Andy Lanning, longtime comic book artists, created the new box art for this collection and supervised a series of digital comics inspired by Forbidden Forests and Caverns of Khafka. In addition to these, you’ll find a digital gallery showcasing the original manuals and ’80s promotional artwork from the games included in this package.
Cosmi: Forbidden Forests will be released on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC on May 27.
