Colton Underwood Uses Traitors Reunion to Acknowledge Dark Past

Okay, so the Traitors reunion got real awkward, and honestly, a little disturbing. Colton Underwood actually addressed the controversy surrounding his past behavior with Cassie Randolph – you know, the stalking and the restraining order. Lisa Rinna directly confronted him about a comment he made on the show where he said he wanted to ‘take her hostage’ as part of the game. It was a pretty jarring moment, given everything that happened off-screen. He tried to explain it away by saying the point of the game is to ‘murder’ a Traitor, not banish them, and he’d rather keep someone like Rinna in the game to see if she would betray another player. It felt like a really clumsy attempt to justify a deeply problematic comparison, and it didn’t land well, to say the least.

While appearing on Traitors, Colton avoided discussing Randolph, whom he dated on The Bachelor, even telling Entertainment Weekly that the topic was off-limits. Now, he’s addressing the criticism he’s received for how he acted in the past. On the show’s reunion, Colton explained that people who weren’t familiar with his personal struggles might not understand his behavior. He said that after a very difficult few years following his time as The Bachelor in 2019, he’d done a lot of work on himself and his family. He didn’t expect his actions on Traitors to be connected to a painful period in his life.

He spoke to Vanity Fair about what happened outside the reunion, taking responsibility for his actions. “I’ll always acknowledge my mistakes and feel remorse for how I treated friends, people I care about, and my fans,” he explained. “People had become invested in my journey, and I felt like I disappointed not just myself, but a lot of others as well.”

Blake Underwood initially appeared on The Bachelor identifying as straight and formed a connection with Cassie Randolph. Their relationship ended badly, with Underwood admitting to stalking Randolph and subsequently receiving a restraining order. He later came out as gay, got married, and had a child, explaining that he was struggling with his mental health during their time together. The two are currently not in contact. He told VF he’s always been willing to answer any questions Randolph or her family might have, but maintains it’s up to her if she wants to reconnect. Ultimately, the decision of whether or not to engage with him rests with Cassie Randolph, and she has every right to choose not to.
