Colorado Buffaloes 2024 Season Results According to College Football 25

As a die-hard football enthusiast who has followed college football for decades, I must admit that this year has been quite the rollercoaster ride. The season started off with a bang, as the #11 BYU Cougars managed to pull off an unexpected win against the #8 Colorado Buffaloes in the Big 12 Conference Championship.

Game 1: vs. FCS Northwest (North Dakota State)

Initially, our first simulation encountered difficulties because North Dakota State University isn’t part of College Football 25. While attempting to download and incorporate NDSU using Team Builder, we faced challenges in recreating the entire 2024 schedule on Online Dynasty. Not every matchup was identical, and certain ones were unalterable, preventing us from editing them. As a result, we had no choice but to make adjustments and work with the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) Northwest instead.

As a gamer, let me share my take on the game: Colorado didn’t break a sweat against their rivals, securing our first win of the season. Shedeur Sanders was on fire, completing 18 out of 31 passes for a whopping 297 yards and tossing three beautiful touchdowns. Travis Hunter stole the show midway through the first quarter with an electrifying 75-yard receiving TD. On defense, we kept their QB in check, holding him to a mere 97 passing yards from 22 attempts.

Record: 1-0

Game 2: @ Nebraska

In Week 2, Colorado’s strong offensive push from the previous week faltered against Nebraska. Shedeur Sanders had two interceptions while completing more than two-thirds of his passes. The team’s only score came late in the third quarter with a 66-yard punt return by Lajohntay Wester.

In the meantime, Nebraska held sway with ball possession and successful third-down plays. Quarterback Dylan Raiola efficiently completed 20 out of 23 passes for a total of 231 yards, keeping the team on the turf while gradually exhausting the Buffalo defense. To summarize, Colorado’s inaugural road journey ended in catastrophe.

Eager for retribution following their defeat in the previous season, Colorado State found themselves falling short yet again, this time against the Buffaloes in another thrilling showdown.

Initially, the pace was leisurely until the second quarter, during which Colorado State’s offense erupted spectacularly. The Buffaloes had a 10-3 advantage, but errors and swift three-and-outs sparked a rally for the Rams. CSU’s Donovan Ollie amassed close to 250 receiving yards against Colorado’s defense.

In the heat of the third quarter, trailing 13-24 against the Rams, it looked like another loss was imminent for us, Colorado. But miraculously, we managed to score two touchdowns, flipping the script with a thrilling 28-24 lead. It was none other than Travis Hunter who electrified the crowd with his game-changing 71-yard punt return touchdown. Alas, our opponents weren’t going down without a fight. They retaliated with two unyielding touchdown drives, outscoring us 14-3 for a short spell, grabbing a 38-31 advantage. However, the game was far from over.

In the heat of the game, it was none other than Lajohntay Wester who delivered another stunning moment – a breathtaking 75-yard touchdown reception that tied the score at 38-38. The tension mounted as Colorado successfully halted our rivals on third down, with mere seconds left on the clock. Then, in a dramatic turn of events, Alejandro stepped up to make a heroic 50-yard field goal as time expired, securing our team’s second victory for the season!

In the initial quarter, Colorado found it tough to initiate their offense effectively. Yet, Travis Hunter’s electrifying 64-yard punt return touchdown brought parity against the Bears. Hunter showcased his versatility by accumulating 114 receiving yards and an additional 53 rushing yards in only six receptions and three rushes respectively. The team then added ten consecutive points, taking a 17-10 lead into halftime.

In yesterday’s game, Buffalo’s defense effectively contained QB Dominic Richardson, allowing him only 5.9 yards per pass attempt. They also managed to force an interception and a fumble, without giving up any turnovers themselves. It wasn’t a particularly spectacular match, but the team still managed to secure the victory.

The Buffaloes traveled to face the unbeaten UCF Knights and managed a close win. Once more, the team was behind in the early stages. Nevertheless, Shedeur Sanders delivered an exceptional performance for the season. The veteran quarterback successfully completed over 77% of his passes, scoring three touchdowns as well.

Once more, Colorado’s defense successfully held off the Knights, denying them the chance to widen their initial advantage or score during the third quarter. Their performance allowed the game to remain competitive, setting the stage for Sanders to step up in the crucial moments and take the lead.

In the fourth quarter, Colorado and UCF were tied at 17-17. But then, Colorado scored ten consecutive points, leading 27-17. UCF managed a touchdown on their next drive, but they missed the extra point, leaving them four points behind. Despite this, Colorado was able to run down the clock, preventing UCF from coming back, and secured their fourth win in five games.

Although Kansas State suffered significant setbacks with injuries to their Quarterback, Wide Receiver 1, and Running Back, they demonstrated impressive offensive performance. Their backup players may not have been explosive, but they effectively moved the ball downfield through short, strategic passes, maintaining control of the game in the second and third quarters.

Once more, Shedeur Sanders displayed his prowess, tallying three touchdowns and racking up over 270 passing yards, contributing to the team’s win. Meanwhile, Travis Hunter made significant contributions with four receptions for 85 yards and two scores, as well as a 12-yard rush. Although both teams’ offenses slowed down in the second half, Colorado’s offense continued to shine, amassing impressive statistics that led them to their fifth triumph of the season.

In their initial matchup against a top-ranked team this season, the Buffaloes came very close to pulling off an upset. Regrettably, the Wildcats’ ground game was simply overpowering, as four of their running backs averaged an impressive 5.4 yards per rush.

Despite some struggles in the running game – with Dallan Hayden managing just 19 rushing yards from nine attempts and a fumble – Colorado’s performance was kept competitive, largely due to Shedeur Sanders’ impressive showing. He completed 281 passing yards, scored one touchdown, but unfortunately threw an interception on the last drive of the game.

Overall, not the worst loss, but one that keeps the team out of the top 25 for now.

Game 8: vs. Cincinnati – Colorado Football 2024 Season Results

The Buffaloes quickly got over their loss at Arizona with a strong offensive showing against the Bearcats. Shedeur Sanders threw for over 300 yards along with five touchdowns on just 20 pass attempts. Dallan Hayden rebounded off an ugly performance, carrying the ball 20 times for 102 yards. And of course, Travis Hunter also shined with three total touchdowns (2 catches, 1 punt return).

As a gamer, I have to admit, the Buffalo defense showed some cracks towards the end of the game. If their offense hadn’t continued to score, Cincinnati might have had a chance to stage a comeback. Fortunately for us, after building a strong lead of 24-0 early on, we were outscored 34-24 in the latter half. However, with our initial 24 points, we managed to secure the win and avoid any potential last-minute drama. Phew!

With the win, the Buffaloes secured a Bowl game appearance.

With a ranking attached to their identity, the #25 Buffaloes demonstrated superiority against a formidable Texas Tech team (7-2), ultimately prevailing in the contest. To put it simply, the team performed exceptionally across all aspects of play. Quarterback Shedeur Sanders was particularly impressive, successfully completing 17 out of 24 passes for a total of 274 yards and scoring 4 touchdowns. Unfortunately for Texas Tech, they were unable to convert on four separate drives within their red zone.

Thus sealed a close victory for the Buffaloes as they now possess a 5-1 record in the conference.

In this season’s simulation, Colorado’s victory over the eighth-ranked school in the nation is quite astonishing. With a commanding 27-0 lead, it appeared that Utah had little chance to win. However, an impressive comeback effort by the Utes saw them outscore Colorado 19-7 in the last 1.5 quarters.

Nevertheless, the Buffaloes skillfully moved past and secured another impressive win. It’s debatable if Deion Sanders can lead this team to such greatness immediately, though their excellent performance under CFB 25’s favorable ratings suggests they might just be up for the challenge.

Although Colorado managed to overwhelm Utah and Texas Tech, they faced difficulties against the 5-5 Jayhawks. The score was 14-0 in favor of Kansas at the start, but Travis Hunter scored another punt touchdown to make it 14-7 before halftime. However, Colorado’s offense suddenly came alive. Dallan Hayden had 25 carries for 189 yards and three touchdowns as the Buffaloes’ ground game finally picked up momentum.

In the contest, Jayhawks’ quarterback Jalon Daniels posed a challenge that the defense found hard to counter, as he scored an impressive five touchdowns throughout the game. Remarkably, the Jayhawks managed to regain their lead in the final quarter, scoring three consecutive touchdowns without response from the opposition. However, with just 10 seconds remaining on the clock, Jimmy Horn Jr caught a 10-yard touchdown pass, securing another win for the Buffaloes.

The remarkable Cinderella story continues as the team triumphs yet again over the Oklahoma State Cowboys (7-5). This matchup saw both offenses take charge, resulting in an intense back-and-forth battle. Remarkably, there were no less than 7 lead changes during the game before the Buffaloes narrowly secured a win.

As a gamer, I’ve got to admit, I’m finding it hard to fathom this team managing to rack up six more victories than their last season. But hey, EA Sports seems to have a soft spot for Colorado, stacking them with some top-tier talent in the game. So, it sure looks like they’re set to put on quite the show in the virtual arena!

Indeed, this event transpired: The #11 BYU Cougars emerged victorious against the #8 Colorado Buffaloes in the Big 12 Conference Championship. Rest assured, I’m not spinning a tale. Despite Shedeur Sanders only completing half of his passes, he still racked up over 300 yards passing and tossed three touchdowns during the game. On the other hand, BYU quarterback Bobby Bohannon had an impressive outing, throwing for a stunning 393 yards and accounted for three more touchdowns.

In this match, they experienced their first overtime game of the season, regrettably finishing on the losing side. Alejandro Mata successfully kicked a 50-yard field goal, but BYU retaliated with one of their own. Later in the game, Shedeur Sanders threw an interception, providing BYU with the opportunity to clinch victory. The remainder of the game became part of history.

College Football Playoff Round 1 – @ #4 Penn State

As a gamer putting on the Colorado jersey, things have been running smoothly for us this season, but the odds of making it to the College Football Playoff are looking pretty slim. Even with the expansion to 12 teams, it’s tough to imagine the Buffaloes managing to win 10 games. However, the team’s impressive ratings have got everyone talking, and that’s why they’ve managed to make it this far. It’s a testament to our potential, and we’re determined to live up to expectations.

Ultimately, it was a relief as the Nittany Lions came to terms with the situation: they managed to limit Sanders to just 155 passing yards, while Dallan Hayden could muster only 36 yards from 10 carries. Moreover, Sanders threw two interceptions and Travis Hunter was conspicuously absent in the game.

In the first quarter, the Buffaloes performed admirably on defense, but their performance deteriorated thereafter. They struggled to contain two separate receivers who surpassed the 100-yard mark, while also conceding an average of 6.1 yards per carry to the three opposing running backs. However, the main issue seemed to be the numerous big plays. Four different receivers caught passes that were over 25 yards long, significantly influencing the score.

Despite the disappointment of an agonizing finale, this year’s performance is simply remarkable for a team that managed only 4 wins against 8 losses the previous season.

Record: 10-4

Indeed, upon first glance, this data might appear as complete gibberish. However, it’s important to take into account several aspects that contribute to Colorado’s impressive performance in this context:

  • The Buffaloes have various players with high OVR ratings
  • The team has high overall team grades (offense, defense, special teams), despite their 2023 record
  • Many players, including Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter, possess high-rated abilities
  • There seems to be a known issue in College Football 25 that sees low-rated teams dominate and often upset their opponents
    • This may explain why BYU silently took the league by storm.

As a passionate supporter, I could have simply restarted each game to ensure a different result. But that would’ve stripped away the thrill of watching the game unfold naturally. I guess what I’m trying to say is, whether it brought a chuckle or a glimmer of hope as a Colorado fan, we’re glad you tuned in.

All in all, here’s a summary of the Colorado 2024 Football Season Results as projected by College Football 25. We’re eagerly anticipating reflecting on this forecast to compare it with the actual results from the regular season.
