On May 15, 2026, the movie version of Colleen Hoover’s psychological thriller “Verity”, produced by Amazon MGM Studios, is set to hit theaters nationwide.
In the film directed by Michael Showalter, you’ll find Anne Hathaway, Dakota Johnson, Josh Hartnett, Ismael Cruz Cordóva, and Brady Wagner in prominent roles.
The present version of the script was penned by Nick Antosca, following earlier drafts by Hoover, Lauren Levine, Hillary Seitz, Angela LaManna, and a duo comprising Will Honley and April Maguire.
Lowen Ashleigh, a struggling writer, is mysteriously hired as a ghostwriter for acclaimed author Verity Crawford. However, things take a sinister turn when she finds disturbing personal notes from Verity. As Lowen grapples with a slew of shocking family secrets, she finds herself trying to differentiate truth from fiction, all while her relationship with Verity’s husband, Jeremy, becomes increasingly blurred.

In the production of “Verity”, Alex Hedlund Antosca, Jordana Mollick Showalter, Stacey Sher, and Hathaway are the main producers. Meanwhile, Johnson, Lauren Levine, and Kerry Orent hold executive producer roles. The companies involved in this project include Eat the Cat, Semi-Formal Productions, Shiny Penny, Somewhere Pictures, and Heartbones Entertainment.
Originally self-published by Hoover in 2018, the book titled “Verity” was later bought by Grand Central Publishing in 2021. It has remained on the New York Times Best Sellers list for extended periods and sold over a million copies in 2023. The cinematic adaptation of this successful novel is set to release following the success of “It Ends With Us,” another No. 1 bestseller by Hoover. This film, featuring Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni, was a surprise hit of the summer season, generating over $346 million at global box offices.
