Colleen Hoover Novel ‘Reminders of Him’ Sets Movie Adaptation at Universal for Valentine’s Day 2026

As a seasoned movie enthusiast who has witnessed the rise and fall of countless cinematic masterpieces, I can confidently say that the upcoming film adaptation of Colleen Hoover‘s “Reminders of Him” is a project I am genuinely looking forward to. Having been captivated by the emotional depth and raw authenticity of her work, I have no doubt that this transformative tale will resonate profoundly with audiences worldwide.

As a passionate movie enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that the much-anticipated adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s heartwarming novel “Reminders of Him” is in the pipeline at Universal Pictures! After an intense bidding war, they secured the rights to this beautiful story and have set their sights on a theatrical release on the romantic occasion of February 13, 2026 – just ahead of Valentine’s Day. I can hardly wait to immerse myself in this captivating tale on the big screen!

Colleen Hoover, author of the worldwide bestseller “It Ends With Us,” which was turned into a successful movie starring Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni, is penning the screenplay alongside Lauren Levine. The film, described as a profound exploration of motherhood, forgiveness, and the restorative power of love, focuses on Kenna Rowan, a woman who returns to her town after serving five years in prison for an unfortunate incident. She yearns to rebuild relationships with her young daughter, but everyone seems determined to keep them apart. The only individual in the area who hasn’t turned their back on her is Ledger Ward, the local bar owner, who plays a significant role in Kenna’s life. Released in 2022, the book has sold over 6.5 million copies worldwide and has been translated into 45 languages. At present, casting decisions are still pending.

Hoover expressed his excitement about collaborating with Universal to adapt Kenna Rowan’s world for screen. Many readers have shared with him that they found aspects of themselves within her tale of enduring tragedy, mending, and starting anew. He is eager for ‘Reminders of Him’, which holds a personal significance for him as well, to be handled sensitively by Universal.

I’ve had the privilege of working at MTV, Nickelodeon, and Walden Media, and served as a producer on the 2007 tearjerker “Bridge to Terabithia,” starring Josh Hutcherson and AnnaSophia Robb. Alongside Hoover, we’ll be producing projects through our freshly established production company, Heartbones Entertainment. As Hoover stated in a release, our goal for this banner is to produce something truly extraordinary for all audiences.

Levine stated, ‘Heartbones is off to a fantastic start.’ We couldn’t ask for a better ally for our inaugural film than Universal, or a more fitting project to express the tales we’re deeply invested in telling than ‘Reminders of Him.’ The massive following Colleen has shows that women are eager for genuine stories about their experiences. Heartbones intends to bring to cinema what Colleen has accomplished so remarkably in publishing, and we believe these narratives will strike a chord, both emotionally and financially, in today’s film industry.

Hoover’s second novel, “Reminders of Him,” is set to be adapted into a movie, following Sony’s successful adaptation of “It Ends With Us” during the summer, grossing an impressive $344 million worldwide. Directed by Baldoni, the film was financially successful despite a budget of only $25 million. Given Hoover has already written a bestselling sequel novel titled “It Starts With Us,” a sequel movie may be expected. However, it seems unlikely that we’ll see Lily and Ryle (portrayed by Lively and Baldoni) again on screen due to rumors of tension between the star and director on set, suggesting they are unlikely to collaborate in the future.

As a passionate cinephile, I’m thrilled to share that Hoover, Levine, and Heartbones Entertainment, the entities under my creative umbrella, are esteemed clients of United Talent Agency (UTA) and Allison Binder at Goodman, Genow, Schenkman, Smelkinson & Christopher. The masterful UTA team skillfully orchestrated a deal that brings us together. My novels, the seeds from which these exciting projects sprout, are also under the expert guidance of Jane Dystel at Dystel, Goderich & Bourret and Allison Binder at Goodman, Genow, Schenkman, Smelkinson & Christopher.
