Colleen Hoover-Adaptation ‘It Ends With Us’ Sets China Theatrical Release

As a movie enthusiast with a penchant for romantic dramas and a deep appreciation for adaptations from novels, I couldn’t be more thrilled about the upcoming release of “It Ends With Us.” Having lived through a series of love stories, both on screen and off, I can say that this film, based on Colleen Hoover’s novel, promises to tug at the heartstrings in all the right ways.

Next month, the romantic drama “It Ends With Us,” featuring Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni, is set to premiere in Chinese movie theaters on the mainland.

Sony Pictures announced that the film directed by Baldoni has received the required permits in China, allowing it to be released on August 30.

To release an imported film for revenue sharing in China, it must pass through several rounds of approval and censorship overseen by a government-owned organization.

In current times, it appears that there are few obstacles preventing American film studios from freely distributing their big-budget films in China, despite instances in the past where such controls were imposed on Hollywood titles.

The distribution of the movie is managed by Columbia Pictures in various regions, while it’s set for a North American premiere on August 9.

In a fresh take, the first novel by Colleen Hoover to be brought to the silver screen is “It Ends With Us”. This captivating story follows Lily Bloom (Lively), a character who triumphs over a troubled past and ventures into a new chapter in Boston, where she pursues her long-held ambition of launching her own business. The screen adaptation was penned by Christy Hall.

In a serendipitous encounter, neurosurgeon Ryle Kincaid (portrayed by Baldoni) captivates the heart of Lily. However, as they become deeply enamored, Lily starts noticing traits in Ryle that echo her parents’ relationship. Just when things seem settled, Atlas Corrigan (Sklenar), her former flame, reappears, shaking up her relationship with Ryle. Faced with this unexpected turn of events, Lily recognizes the need to rely on her inner resilience to make a difficult decision about her future.

Additionally starring in this movie are Jenny Slate, Hasan Minhaj, and Amy Morton, along with Lively, Baldoni, and Sklenar.

I had the pleasure of appreciating a captivating movie that was jointly brought to life by Wayfarer Studios and Columbia Pictures, under the guidance of talented producers Alex Saks, Jamey Heath, Lively, and Hall. Notably, Steve Sarowitz and Todd Black served as executive producers on this project.
