I expressed my complex feelings about the conclusion to Victor’s storyline, encompassing both intense dislike and deep respect for it.

Farrell remarked, ‘There was an ominous atmosphere that night.’ To make the audience emotionally invest in the character, I believe they’ve already grown fond of Rhenzy’s Vic. The same goes for the crew; they too will develop a connection and affection for the character.

Deirdre O’Connell, portraying Oz’s mother Francis Cobb, shared that the closing scene of the last episode called for a solitary tear from her as she lies in a comatose state, denied the joy of witnessing her gangster son’s achievement in securing the penthouse, which was his long-awaited promise to her.

Every day since the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, O’Connell found herself contemplating how to portray the poignant finale scene. She admitted she hadn’t devised a specific strategy for delivering her performance in Francis’ last moment, but something extraordinary that Farrell did compelled her to respond spontaneously.

O’Connell stated, ‘I’m unsure if he realized it or not, and I can’t comprehend how a person could do this, but he pulled away his affection.’ It was undeniably clear in the room that Oz had withdrawn his affection, and I felt it. He left me with a heavy heart.

Lauren LeFranc, the showrunner, shared how she aimed to create a complex and empathetic character in Oz, despite his flaws. She wished to explore and depict Oswald Cobblepot (Oz) as a multi-dimensional figure, reflecting the antagonist that viewers of the Batman universe might recognize from previous onscreen or comic interpretations.

Farrell emphasized that the character’s intricate personality and layered psychology played a crucial part in his choice to accept the role. He mentioned that LeFranc’s grasp of the emotional undertones between Oz and Francis, particularly the dynamics between sons and their mothers, was what ultimately drew him in.
